Aloha and Welcome!AwardThe General Contractors Association (GCA) of

Hawaii is celebrating its 11th anniversary of its Build Hawaii Awards. The 2014 Build Hawaii Awards an-nually showcases the best of the best construction projects in Hawaii.

The Build Hawaii Awards program is open to all GCA general contractor and specialty contrac-tor members for projects completed in 2013. The program is designed after the Associated General Contractors of America Build America Awards.

Based on the submissions received, a panel of judges has reviewed each entry and determined a score for how each of the projects met the eight outlined criteria. All the judge’s scores have been tabulated to determine a winner in each of the categories listed in the following pages.

The GCA would like to thank all of the contrac-tors and sponsors who participated and contributed to the GCA Build Hawaii Awards. Congratulations to all the winners!

As friendly and welcoming as Hawaii is, getting your freight to and distributed within the islands can be

intimidating if you’re not familiar with the Aloha state.

There’s a simple way to eliminate any confusion involved in shipping between the mainland and Hawaii – or the island nation of Guam: Call AFF Hawaiian Ocean Transport (HOT) for all of your island delivery needs. AFF Hawaiian Ocean Transport provides both less-than-container load (LCL) and full container load (FCL) service to the Hawaiian Islands and Guam.

We have been doing so for over 20 years. Our operations in the Hawaiian Islands are centered in our container freight station located in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu, just a few minutes from the port. We have satellite offices on each of the “neighbor” islands. In the continental United States, HOT operates receiving and loading terminals in the greater areas of Los Angeles, Oakland, and Seattle-Tacoma.

We can arrange for truck, rail or air freight connections from anywhere in North American to any of our West Coast facilities for final consolidation into ocean compatible containers. When you deal with the people at HOT, you will experience our “Aloha Spirit.” Because we are exclusively focused on transportation to and from the

Hawaiian Islands and Guam, we are able to provide value added services to support your transportation programs.

Through a network of contract motor carriers and our intermodal capabilities, we can arrange to pick up your cargo and move it to the most appropriate loading site from most cities in the United States. There are a number of container ship departures to the Port of Honolulu from the ports on the West Coast. Transit time is four to seven days, depending on port of departure and final destination in the Hawaiian Islands. Service to Guam is available from both the ports of Long Beach and Oakland, California.

Give us a try. Go to our Data Center and

click on “Request a Rate” and provide us the information on an upcoming shipment. You will receive a detailed written quote showing the total costs to move your products from origin to destination. We can guarantee you the highest quality service, flexible programs and competitive pricing on surface transportation.

So the next time you need help getting a product to Hawaii or Guam, do what a variety of local companies do: call Hawaiian Ocean Transport. You’ll get the same Aloha Spirit whether you need a small single shipment delivered to the “Seven Pools” in Hana or need to transport entire rooms full of furniture to a new hotel in Honolulu. Think of us as your island experts. Mahalo.

We’re your transportation services partner to and from Hawaii and Guam. Think of us as your island experts.

SPOTLIGHT ON SHIPPING

From farm to Luau table.

Getting temperature sensitive goods has never been easier. With more

than 25 years experience connecting you to the mainland, it’s no wonder
