Game Details
Tributes:
• A tribute consists of a pair of scouts - it may be Male/ Male or
Female/ Female, but not Male/ Female
• Tribute members/ buddies must stay together at all times
• You may not change buddies at any time during the games, unless an
emergency has occurred at which time the staff will decide if an
exception can be made
• A tribute is eliminated when either member has both his/ her flags
removed ( See Elimination)
11
Arena: The Arena spans a large section of Camp Horseshoe and contains a
cornucopia ( starting point) , required checkpoints, and caches. The arena and
checkpoints will be monitored by a number of field staff. Checkpoints: There are a number of checkpoints that must be visited during the course of
the game.
• Checkpoints are open during specific timeframes
• All tributes are supplied with a map with the location of the first
checkpoint
• Maps and timeframe information for the next checkpoint will be supplied
at the checkpoints
• Sponsor items will also be distributed at checkpoints
• Failure to reach a checkpoint during the designated time frame causes
elimination of the tribute
Sponsor Items: Troops and crews can “purchase” items for favorite tributes using
points won during the Saturday games in Ware throughout the day. These
items will be given to the appropriate tributes through checkpoints. Gameplay/Rules: • General
◦ This is a no- contact game, do not tackle/ attack other tributes. You
are aiming for their flags, not their heads!
◦ Alliances are allowed, but remember that in the end only one tribute
can win
◦ Stay within the boundaries of the arena
◦ Have good sportsmanship
◦ If there is an emergency find the nearest staff member and have
them assist you
◦ Tributes being escorted by staff are considered " safe" and are
temporarily timed out of the game
12
• Flags:
◦ Each member of a tribute has two flags; for a total of four flags
per tribute
◦ If you capture another tributes flag, keep it - this will be used to
tally the most captures/ hits award
• Elimination:
◦ If a member of a tribute has both his/ her flags are removed, the
tribute is eliminated
◦ If you are eliminated, find the nearest staff team and have them
escort you out of the arena; if you are no longer in the games, stay
out of the arena
◦ Leaving the arena boundaries causes elimination
◦ Eliminated tributes must hand over all unused maps to the tribute
that eliminated them
◦ Eliminated tributes keep the flags of tributes they have captured,
and all food items received while in the arena Awards:
Awards will be given to the winning tribute, and the team that has “wounded”
the most tributes ( captured the most tribute flags)
Sleeping Arrangements: • Friday - Tributes sleep in a cabin at Horseshoe
• Saturday - Remaining tributes will sleep at designated locations in the
arena
When tributes first come to Horseshoe, they will be staying in a cabin, so
normal sleeping gear is fine. However, on the second night tributes will be
sleeping in the arena, so different gear may be required. On Saturday morning,
tributes will be given a bag or some way to mark the sleeping gear that they
want to use in the arena.
This gear will be transported by the staff to the tribute’s designated sleeping
site on Saturday night. On Friday morning the gear will be moved back to the
cabin for tributes to pick up on their way back to Ware.
Note: Adirondacks will be open, so there is no need for a tent
13
Location
All tributes start out and end the weekend with their troops or crews in Camp
Ware. The Hunger Games portion of the camporee takes place at Camp
Horseshoe.
Opening ceremony/Costumes On Friday night there will be a large campfire during which the tributes will
be formally presented to the entirety of the troops attending the 2014
CCC BSA Hunger Games. Tributes are required to sport a costume
representing their district ( their Troop or Crew ) , and an award will be
handed out at the award ceremony on Sunday for the best costume.
