Welcome on behalf of my wife Nichole and our son Ridge. It is with great pride and I will admit a little nervousness, that we present the Charolais Power Annual bull sale. I was invited into this sale by the Fawcetts and the Letniaks a number of years ago. Last year it was an-nounced that last years sale would be the last year in the sale for the Letniak families. At this time I would like to thank Ron & Connie, Lawerence & Debbie, and Kevin & Angela and families for their years of supplying great bulls to this sale. I would also like thank them for their support and help with showing me the ropes in hosting this sale. When the opportunity to purchase the Fawcett herd and a large por-tion of the top end of the Letniak herd, we decided to take on the opportunity and duty of producing top quality Charolais bulls that this sale has become known for. Bulls with bred in performance, thick hair coats and sound feet and legs and structure. We now run two separate purebred herds. One calves in January and February, with the other in April and May. There are no hold over cows or allowances for cows to slip from one herd to the next, if they miss they are gone. It’s that simple. Our purebreds are strictly culled in the same way we cull any of our cows. I strongly believe if you cull hard on your cows you will have less calves to cull. I don’t believe a big herd means more quality in terms of producing breeding bulls. Most of the two year old bulls in this years sale were bred by Letniaks , with the balance from my existing herd. The two year old bulls were wintered on a light TMR growing ration, then summered on grass with no further supplement. They were then brought into the yard in late fall and started on a gentle TMR ration of a 13% backgrounder pellet with the remainder being chopped hay and haylage. This ration has been built and balanced by Dr. Aaron Grant of Nutrition Service Associates. Raising and feeding a pen of coming two year olds is a brand new task for me. I feel these bulls are in nice condition, not under conditioned and not fat. These bulls have been produced and fed with you, the customer in mind. These bulls are ready to go to work. My two year old program is growing in numbers with a few more additions, so expect more two olds in the coming years.
The yearling pen is full of new genetics, with the addition of three new bulls. Riggins is a mature bull. I have been watching his offspring for a couple years. I luckily was able to pry him loose. He is Homo Red and a very eye appealing individual, even for his age. He has bred a group of cows in both the Jan, Feb calving herd as well as the April, May calving herd each year, all at the age of 8 years old. I got him home late in the first breeding season so there were few calves from him in this years sale. Expect more of his sons in next years sale. I also bought two more bulls, two bulls who are also three quarter brothers. Landshark 134Y is a horned son of Landmark 963W. Landshark was shown only once at Agribition as a calf and was Reserve Calf Champion to a calf who went on to be Reserve Grand Champion. The LandShark offspring come out with low to moderate birth weights. No matter male or female gender, his calves are all stamped with the same body type, shape, and are extremely hairy and quiet. His brother was selected a little later when the purchase of the Letniak cows presented its self. Rushmore 145Y was Grand Champion at Lloydminister Bull Sale and was the high seller. When I selected Landshark I spent literally hours trying to decide which bull to select between the two brothers, so when I needed another bull the choice was easy. Rushmore is a little bigger than his brother in terms of frame size. Only time will tell, but his offspring may be a little more powerful than the Landshark offspring. They are both similar in their quiet demeanor and amazing hair coats. I am extremely happy with both of these two bulls and expect them to be strong building blocks in the future of my herd. There is also a sprinkling of sires from past years as well as a couple new AI sires. The yearling bulls were weaned mid to late September and started on a gentle TMR ration of the same ingredients as the two year olds. It con-sists of the same 13% backgrounder pellets with the balance being chopped hay and haylage. A ration that again was designed by Dr. Aaron Grant. This ration is a high roughage based ration, these bulls are healthy and have been grown with longevity in mind. Once they were over the weaning process they were then ran through the chutes and processed and weighed. This pen is not unlike our yearling pens of previous years. You can expect yearling bulls who are stout rugged, quiet and wrapped in a thick hair coat. My goal is to produce bulls with moderate
birth weights that will push the scales down with big weaning weights and continue to gain even as a yearling. I want cattle that are fuctional, cattle who are maintenance and hassle free. All our bulls are on a full herd health program and will be semen tested prior to the sale. The bulls can be viewed at home anytime before March 11, after that the bulls will be in Veteran at Dryland Cattle Trading Corp. As always if you have any questions about our program or the bulls in the sale please call me. If for some reason you are unable to attend the sale give myself or one of our sales staff a call. Let us know what kind of cows you are breeding these bulls to and what type of bull you are looking for and we will do our best to find a bull to meet your needs. Come early on sale day look through the pens and enjoy the smell of the fresh steaks on the BBQs. Then stick around enjoy a one of those great tasting steaks and take part in the sale. We know some of you are calving so rest assured we will run a quick and honest sale. I look forward to visiting with everyone on sale day, see you in Veteran!
Sincerely , Travis

Here is a bull that is very complete when you analyze his mass, structure and attractiveness. A favourite of many who have toured the bull pens.
Swagger was the high selling bull for Fawcetts three years ago. 231z is very quiet and easy going bull. His mother is a past donor whose embryos were marketed domestically and overseas.

Sir 251Z is one of the best red factor bulls in the sale - smooth polled, big ribbed and big topped. This big fella will add pounds to your bottom line. He comes from a maintenance free Letniak cow, with a great udder.
A maternal brother to Sir 254Z was selected from this sale by Alta Genetics; Alta’s Cool Blue continues to be a strong producer for them. Sir 254Z will be a calving ease bull, with has a nice small head and shoulders lay in tight to his body.

If you are looking to add some frame to some british based cows, take a look at 262Z. Another one of the true standouts in this group. For some reason the other bulls took to picking on this big guy for a while - if they hadn’t I’m sure he would be even heavier. One of my favorites.
This bull was raised by a first calf heifer and what a job she has done! A moderate birth weight coupled with the growth and conversion should make this bull a top choice for most ranches.

Sir 270Z is sired by the DBAR 913 bull, who has sired a group of progeny in this sale who are very similar in their type and over all eye appeal, and moderate birth weights.
Sir 274Z is a big bull with lots of middle and volume. You will notice a great coat of hair on this bull as well. LEGL 74S has become one of my favorite cows in the entire herd, and it started with job she did on this calf.

A nice moderate bull who is polled and has a nice quiet temperment.
285Z was raised by a young cow who is growing into a powerful, well balanced cow. 285Z will mature in the same fashion.
Sired by FPF 924W, a bull selected by Letniaks, selected for his length of spine, hair coat and calving ease. Moth-ered by a cow who is my “type” of cow. Moderate in frame, easy doing, and great uddered.
Another one of the DBAR 913 bulls. A polled bull who was a 95 lb birth weight.
A massive bull in terms of power, muscle, and red meat.

Another Swagger son, he is smooth polled, and for being one of the younger bulls in the sale he is growing and maturing right along with the rest.
This Kaboom sired bull is double bred for calving ease. His mother is sired by Bluegrass, a bull who I have used on my heifers for years.
Smooth polled, sired by Swagger, and a bull I think will only get better by the day.
Swagger on the top and Freedom on the bottom, this bull has a pedigree to back up his performance.
Smooth polled and out of a half french first calf heifer, who was one of the biggest and best performing heifers.
Out of a first-calf heifer, and sired by Kaboom. Calv-ing ease with performance is a nice balance, and with Kaboom and Pilgrim in his pedigree you should have a chance to accomplish both.

If you like your bulls big, rugged and powerful, have alook at this Warrior son. His mother is a full French cow sired by the famous Impair.
322A is a flush mate to the other Freedom x 710G bulls in the sale. They are all very similar in their make up; if you are looking for consistency in your calf crop and you need a couple bulls I recommend full brothers.
Raised by a moderately framed Hank daughter, a cow who is my type of mother cow. Mark this bull on your list if you retain your own heifers.
Sir 311A is the result of a flush I did using the great Freedom bull, who is well known in and out of the breed. The dam of these flush calves is a big bodied, deep sided cow with exceptional feet and udder quality. A cow who had to earn the right to enter our flush program. 311A is smooth polled, deep quartered and thick made.
Another one of the Freedom X 710G embryo calves, 317A is the biggest framed, and could also be the hairest of the flush mates.

Long spined, wide topped and full of meat are the words that come to mind when I analyze this bull. Sired by Rushmore 145Y, this guy will mature into a big powerful bull just like his daddy.

Flushmate to the other Freedom X 710G bulls in the sale, they are like peas in a pod.
328A is a big powerful son of Warrior. Big topped wide based and is wrapped in a thick hair coat.
Landskark sired and out of a real nice shaped Hank daughter. Smooth polled and tons of hair.
The last of the full brothers from the flush of 710G and Freedom. After you write five footnotes describing what I think are very similar full brothers, it’s hard to come up with new things to say. So that’s all im going to say.

When the word was out that I had purchased the Fawcett cows, I had a couple requests to AI some of the these cows back to Dakota. 354A is one of the results. Lots of growth and lots of hair in this combination.
Raised by one of the oldest cows in the herd. If longevity, as well as preformance, is important you take a look at 362A.
This red factor son of Riggins is smooth polled with a calm attitude. A younger bull but is not one to overlook for age. You admire his hip and width of loin.
361A’s mother produced a high selling bull on her first attempt, and on her second, a heifer who was retained. Now her third calf is 361A.
A smooth polled son of Warrior and out of a square made Hank cow. He has nice round hip and depth of rib.

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance to the sale with the owner or Sales Manager.
Bidding: Each animal is to be sold to the highest bidder. No by-bidding will be permitted. A reasonable price base may be set.
Disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters is final.
Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.
Announcements: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.
Certificate of registry: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyers for each animal after settlement has been made.
Breeders Guarantee, bulls: Should any bull (14) fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within (6) six months following date of pur-chase or (6) six months after the bull has reached (14) fourteen months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of (6) six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.
The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time.
Exception guarantee: In cases where the animal was subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, A.I., signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, the said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual price. Should a dispute arise over the quality of the replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator.
Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auc-tioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
Mail or telephone bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Rights and obligatations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall continue a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction which is not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
