“The more things change, the more things stay the same”

A CIO with over 35 years of systems and project experience, and over 17 years as a CIO describes how the basics still apply – people, process, technology and communications. This discussion will highlight the importance of building a healthy organizational culture in the recruiting and retention of IT teams and in the career development and talent management of your IT team members. The importance of standards & processes for Project Management, Standard Configurations, Acquisition Integrations, etc. will be highlighted. The importance of having an Enterprise Architecture and following a risk-based outcome-oriented IT roadmap will be stressed as well as how the Enterprise Architecture should be used to reduce risk, prioritize investments, and follow and predict technology trends. Best practices for communicating with your team, with your customers, and with your board of directors will be discussed, along with approaches for managing your organizational reputation. Token mention will be made of your organization’s greatest risk, cybersecurity, without a promise of an easy and guaranteed solution. And of course, CIOs have to do all this, while managing costs and demonstrating best.
