God is everywhere at every time, especially inside us. Threw reading the Bible I’ve learned to
love Jesus Christ because he first loved me. I believe that God has a place in heaven for every-
one who believes and loves God The father, Son and Holy Ghost. This is why I have chosen to
follow Jesus because he first chose me and died on a cross for me.
I believe that the bible is the word of God, and Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior of the
world. I believe that we all need Jesus Christ in our heart because he keeps us away from chaos
while bringing us together.

I believe that God is our loving creator, healer, and father. I see God through my friends and
family. God will always watch over us and listen.
I believe that Jesus is the messiah, the redeemer, the son, Immanuel, our savior, and our
teacher. Jesus saved us from the unforgiving punishment of our sins.
I believe the Holy Spirit guides us in our day to day choices and is always with us. The Holy
Spirit is a large part of faith due to the guidance it provides.
I believe that scripture is inspired by God. It tells the story of the creation of our world and the
life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Scripture helps us connect with God and follow
his will.
I believe worship is connecting God through prayer and reflection, praising through music, and
receiving the word through scriptures and sermon. Worship not only helps us as Christians
learn and focus, but it also shows God our appreciation through our praise.
I believe baptism and the Lord’s Supper are sacraments that were given to us by Jesus. Bap-
tism brings a person into the church family. We practice communion as instructed by Jesus. In
Luke 22:19, Jesus instructs, “Do this in remembrance of me” Sacraments remind us of the
practices of Jesus and of the life he led.
I believe that the church is first and foremost a family, but it is also a place and an organiza-
tion. At the church, Christians can gather as a family and worship. Christians can also go to
church for guidance and help.
I believe that Jesus sacrificed his life on Earth to provide us with salvation. Salvation is grace
from sin. When we as Christians ask for forgiveness, God will always welcome us back.
I believe that the trinity is three in one, formed by the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. To-
gether the three are God.
I believe that prayer is a ritual which connects us to God. When I pray individually, it is a pri-
vate ritual. When I pray at church, it is a communal ritual. Through prayer, we can apologize
and ask for forgiveness, praise and thank God, and ask for help.
I believe that faith is trust in God. Faith provides us with hope and reassurance, and it is im-
portant to have faith to guide us and support us.

I believe God created, loves, and has a plan for me. I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God
who died for everyone on the cross. I believe that the Holy Bible is the word of The Lord. God
gave me reasons to live life to the fullest. I believe I am a follower of God and that he has a
place for me in heaven. I also believe that the church is a second home, where people care and
love me. I believe that God is with me at all times, and will help give me guidance whenever I
am lost or confused.

I believe Jesus was sent by God to die on the cross for our sins. Being a follower of Jesus
means you spread his word and go to church to worship him. I believe the bible is the voice of
God. I believe God is the creator of all heaven and earth. God cannot be defined as one thing. I
learned that anybody can see God through anything, even people. I learned about myself that I
am a follower of God. I go to church to worship and learn about God.

Jackson Wells, 8th grade
I believe God created all things, sent us his son, Jesus Christ, and loves everyone. God is
an immortal character but is not distant because he is always impacting our lives. He sent us
his only son to forgive our sins and show us how he wants us to live. God is always forgiving
us when we sin and always loves us. I believe the trinity is God on Earth, in Heaven, and in
our life. God is everywhere and is always with us. I believe Jesus Christ is God’s son that was
sent to us from God to suffer and die on the cross so we could live forever in Heaven. Jesus
Christ was a real person who walked and breathed like a normal person. He had feelings and
showed emotions, but never sinned. I believe the Holy Spirit is God and Jesus comforting us
throughout our life on Earth. Our life on Earth is just a small piece of our complete life. I was
once told, “When you’re at the beach and you get a one little grain of sand in your teeth, take it
out. That one grain represents your life on Earth. Now look at all the other grains of sand,
those represent your life in Heaven.”
I believe the Bible is the story of Jesus on Earth and God’s word. It is our job to tell the
story of Jesus’ life and to proclaim God’s word. I believe the church is a stepping-stone to learn
how to be a perfect follower of God and to hear his stories. I believe the church should be a
comforting place for people to meet and talk to god, a place to just let your thoughts and ques-
tions loose and let God answer them. I believe I am a terrible follower of God but I try not to
sin and be a perfect follower. I know it isn’t possible to never sin, but I try my best not to sin.
Our life on Earth is just an intro to our life in Heaven. It is made to be good and bad, but
be a learning experience.

I believe God:
Always guides our world, and tries to stop evil
Loves all of us despite our sins
Prepares us to walk with him in heaven
Helps us in times of trouble
And gave his only son to save our sins
I believe the Holy Spirit is:
A force that spreads love in our world.
Never lets evil stop the spread of God’s teachings
Delivers the word of God and leads me in the right path
I believe Jesus:
Opened our world to the true meaning of God’s power
More than a prophet
Even suffered to save our sins in a world of pain
Gave our world a second chance
And will return one day as fully human and fully God
As a member of Dorchester Presbyterian Church I will pass on God’s teachings to those in
times of trouble who doubt God and question their faith. I have questioned my own faith many
times and it has made me stronger. I will make the church a safe haven of love and peace and
show God’s grace through the church. Amen.

It has been a long year of confirmation, and I have learned quite a bit, but I still have a
lot to learn. First of all, Jesus, to me, acts like a conductor of a band or choir. He leads all of his
people in the right direction and calls us to do great things. He cues us to step out of the crowd
for a solo to rejoice the holy trinity, and/or do the work that he calls us to do.
Being a follower of Jesus is probably like a see-saw of emotions for lots of people, and
that’s the same feeling that I have. My life with Jesus goes from “When Jesus wept” to
“Hallelujah! He’s risen!”, to serving for a local shelter, to learning a bassoon part, to going to
hours of Christian classes for a week, but Jesus has helped me hang on for this wild ride. The
church gathering every Sunday gives me just the right dosage of Jesus for the week ahead.
To me, the main reason that I want to be confirmed is so that I can have an official title
adding to the fact that I do follow Jesus as much as I need. Now, I admit it, I am not a teen who
says “Praise the lord!” every hour of the day. However, I know that’s alright. Even though
there are ads for things like “Join the Christian faith wholeheartedly or die!”, nobody has to,
and fear isn’t really a good reason to join anyway. I really do want to join the church.
Now, if there are people that feel called to hold a position in the church, I’ll let them go
right ahead and go for it. However, if I feel like I’m one of those few that has been called to do
something, I’ll probably accept the offer. That’s what a Christian should do, right? I can lead
the pack of people in the mode of responding to God through song!
To me, the Bible is basically a worldwide Christian history textbook that teaches the
concepts of God’s Word. It teaches quite a few valuable lessons about never underestimating
the power of God’s love. The Holy Spirit serves as a messenger for Jesus since he is not on
this earth any more. The Spirit shares the same loving words with us as the other two-thirds of
the trinity. I am looking forward to hopefully being accepted into the church and being able to
participate in a greater way.

Addison Wells, 7th grade
Confirmation is a very important phase in my life. Being confirmed has opened my eyes
to understand what my faith is about, and understanding the word of God even more. My faith
is important to me because it helps me to understand God, Jesus, the Bible, and myself.
To me God is the creator of Heaven and Earth and the Almighty One. I believe God is a
man. He is with me always and helps me learn about him and his teachings, through people. I
know he is here but I haven’t really experienced God but I think he is in my pillow pet when I
sleep and it gives me comfort. I am not lonely in my room when I am alone either so I think he
is with me there too. I see God when my friend helped me pick up my books when I dropped
them or in a smiling face.
I believe the trinity is God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the son of God
who died on the cross to save us. I believe the Bible is God’s word for us to follow; it is a
guide for me to become a better follower of God. If I read the Bible more often I feel that I will
become a better follower of God.
The church is loving and caring people who support me and help me learn about Jesus
and God. They are a part of God’s family. Even if I mess up they are there to carry me all the
way. I am a follower of God and believe in him. By reading the Bible praying more often and
having a positive attitude will help me be a better Christian, and try to let my faith guide my
actions. One time I had a soccer game and everyone hated the officials and I was the only one
who fist bumped them and told them good job. I also sponsor a child in Africa and give her
twenty to thirty dollars a month. I am a follower who tries to be perfect but constantly sins. I
always forget to read the Bible or pray at dinner time. Sometimes when people are laughing at
someone I just sit quiet and don’t say anything, it is hard to be the person that stands up to
EVERYONE. I hope God can help me in this area. My faith is important to me because it is a
guide for my life and helps me understand God and his word. I want to be confirmed in the
church and learn and understand even more about God, Jesus, the Trinity, the church, the Bi-
ble, and myself as a follower of God.

I believe that God watches over us, guides us and protects us. I believe that the trinity is
the father son and the Holy Spirit, and they cannot be separated because they are one. Jesus is
the son of God and he died to forgive our sins. The Holy Spirit is everywhere, and is inside
everyone.
I believe that the bible teaches us the history of God and his son Jesus. The church
should be a place for help and support. The church should be like a second family because they
have the same understanding of things, and they care for you.
I believe I need to be more involved in Church. My Faith is important to me because it
has led me to meet many new friends and it has led to many opportunities. I would like to be
confirmed into the church because I will be surrounded by people that care for me and love our
church. Being confirmed is an important time in my life.
Mentor: Todd Heldreth

As a lamb I will follow the savior Jesus Christ as he leads me to freedom. Freedom from sin,
prosecution, loathe. Jesus Christ died for our sins and i will not be ungrateful for the gift of
life.
The Church is Gods Palace even if it’s not the prettiest place. It’s somewhere where we can be
surrounded by loved ones and friends and feel at home.
The Bible is a book of escape; to understand. You do not have to do exactly as the Bible says
because no one could ever be that perfect (besides God and Jesus of course) but the Bible is a
way to follow in Gods holy name and to have someone there when it is only a book.
I plan to express my religion in not only the church but in my school, grocery stores, and any
other place you can think of. Jesus died for our sins; he died to simply save us. I will always
try to be at my best in Gods name for the gift of life is the greatest gift I have ever had.

Reagan Gregory, 7th grade
Being confirmed is more than just being a member of the church. It's about taking the
next step in your faith. It makes you closer to your creator, father, guide; God. It helps you
learn more about your savior, the one who died for our sins, my Prince of Peace; Jesus Christ,
son of God. I am ready to take this next step in my faith. I am ready to become closer to my
God. I am ready to learn more about my Savior. The bible helps me grow and strengthen my
faith during confirmation. It is helping guide me through life and care for me with kind words.
The church also helps care and helps me grow during my confirmation and spiritual develop-
ment. All the people of the church are loving people who nurture and treat all of us with love
and respect during this time of our development. I believe I have a purpose in the world to
help, learn, and serve God's world. I believe being confirmed will help my faith. My faith
helps me clear my mind and lead me to do the right thing. Having a developed faith can help
me to serve in my God's world. Becoming a member will help me have a better connection
with God, Jesus, and the church.

I believe God is the creator of heaven and earth and all life, who gave his only son for us. And I
believe he is the Great I Am who can ignite the feeling of warmth and comfort by letting miracle hap-
pen throughout someone’s day, not specifically mine. In life and in death we belong to God.
I believe through the Trinity; the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the com-
munion of the Holy Spirit, we as Christians can become better people and help spread the word of
God. There is one God, how exists eternally in three persons.
I believe Jesus is fully human and fully divine, Jesus spread the word of God our father;
preaching good news to the poor and he brought freedom to the prisoners, teaching by word and by
deed and blessing Gods lambs, healing the ill and mending the brokenhearted, eating with the outcasts
of society, forgiving our sins, and callings us all to repent and believe in the gospel. Jesus suffered,
died, and rose for our sins so that we may be free to serve others with Gods merciful love.
I believe the Holy Spirit guides us through our daily life and is Gods way of talking to us. The
Holy Spirit helps us to make good choices and inspires us to use our gifts to serve other. The Spirit
justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and
binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the church.
I believe the Bible is inspired by God. It tells the story of the creation of our world and the life,
the death, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Scripture helps us to connect with God and follow
Gods will. Although I do not really believe in some of the things that are reported as happening in the
Bible, like how someone could walk on water, I do understand the messages it is trying to send. So
maybe it is not the point that a man actually walked on water, or that Jesus cured a blind man just by
touching him, but maybe the point could be to have faith and anything can happen. I believe that God
is of any gender, not a male. I believe people say God is male because in this universe it is believed to
be a man’s world.
I believe the church should welcome all people, to the full ministry and life of our church. Our
inclusive witness is without compromise, as we should protest any limit on the love of God that would
segregate or discriminate against Gods children.
I believe that humanity is created in the image of God, separated from God by sin, lost and in
need of forgiveness. And that being sad, I believe I can be a helpful servant of God by spreading the
word and helping the others find their way to God.
My faith is important to me because it gets me through tough times. Just knowing that there is a
greater power out there gives me hope. Every time I step out onto the soccer field, I always ask God to
watch over my and the other players. Its y way of being spiritual and having faith. I know it isn’t
much but it is my way of communicating with God and asking God for support, even if I’m not sure
God exist. But if God is in fact up there, watching over me, I ask for Gods help and it seems as if I re-
ceive my answer or what I need to hear through Gods silence.
Being a member of this beautiful church means that I am called to be affirmative and hopeful. I
will witness by example and seek to reflect the faith, hope and radical inclusive love and example of
Jesus, as I understand it. I am called to be mindful and respectful. I will seek and encourage open and
respectful conversation, and consider and value all views and perspectives in guiding our church and
congregation on its journey. Bob Marley once said, “My future is righteousness” and that being said I
believe that becoming a member of this church my future will be righteousness and nothing will get in
the way of it.

Nate Pryor, 8th grade
I am a faithful disciple of Christ. I always sin and trespass against the God I love, but
with all his love and mercy he forgives. For I am not righteous but he stills cares about me. I
am one of his million followers, but he does not forsaken me but he warms me with his tender-
ness. I make promises that I cannot keep with him, but he still shows me his affection. Al-
though I am a very faulty person he shows his everlasting mercy, for he died on the cross for
us, the ultimate sacrifice was just for us the imperfect people ungrateful of his admiration, but
he is amazing. He holds me dear even though I do not deserve it. His love is boundless, he is
the almighty creator of this world, others, and me.
With all his creations he has trusted me to spread the world to all his makings, to make
followers from all nations, and to be good example through good actions. But I am all ways
failing to do his command, for sometimes the evils of sin are overwhelming and I forget his
deeds. However, these evils do not overcome me for the Lord loves me and he helps me navi-
gate out of the darkest valleys and lead me beside calm waters.
His way is the only way. Jesus is the only pathway to the Golden Gates, and if you fol-
low in his footsteps he will lead you to everlasting life. He is everywhere, through the Holy
Spirit inside us helping us. He is the little guy on your right shoulder beating the other little
guy on your left. With his guidance inside us, he always gave us his word in tangible form, the
Bible. For sometimes when we ignore him inside us, we have his commands out in word to re-
mind us to follow him and do good for him.
To also to be a faithful worshiper of him, his house, and the church, is a good place to
weekly renew your faith in him. It is the holy meeting place to reinstate your devotion for him,
to discuss about his amazing presence to further your understanding about him. That is impor-
tant so you know how to better spread his word to everyone. His holy abode is a very sanctious
place for me because my passion and devotion for him grows stronger every time I am there. I
grow stronger there thanks to all the wonderful people there, and the congregation is an as-
tounding blessing he has given me to grow more faithful in him. Jesus gives me purpose in
life, he is the main objective and the only. Without him life would be pointless. Also, Jesus is
my great inspiration, he has encouraged and shaped my life to a positive lifestyle. Jesus is the
source of all my blessings and I am eternally grateful for his plentiful blessings that I am not
all ways worthy of. I might sin a lot, but nothing can stop me from professing my faith of Je-
sus, my devotion of him shows up in school work in writings about my life, Jesus is my life. In
one of my papers from class I wrote, “Montreat, youth group, and Ms. Alek from camp, they
helped built my faith and make God my lamp, The Trinity is who I believe in. Mercy, forgive-
ness, and dying for our sins, Admit, believe and confess, for we all sin, and Jesus forgives
them, the Trinity is who I believe in.” Jesus is my one and only God and Savior and I love him.
I refuse all sin and fully commit my life towards God. Finally, I will actively spread the good
news of God and participate in the Church’s mission to spread the word of God to all corners
of the Earth. God is the one and only. God is love.

I believe God is my guide through all good and bad times. I believe the trinity is the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Ghost combined. I believe Jesus Christ is my savior and also the one I relate
to most because he was human and had to go through some of the same problems. I believe the
Holy Ghost is the presence in the back of my mind helping me through life. I believe the Bible
is the word of God and we should obey it. I believe the church is a community of believers of
God worshipping together. I believe the church should help other people and spread the word
to nonbelievers. I believe I have been called to be a child of God and a follower of Jesus. My
faith is important to me because it is a part of my life and it is what I believe, faith also impacts
my life in my choices and how I treat other people. I want to be confirmed and a member of
this church because I would like to officially be a member and a follower of God. Being a
church member means that I can be closer to God and the community.

I believe that as a follower of Jesus:
I Should Spread Gods Word,
Spread Gods Love,
Follow The Ten Commandments,
Share The Good News,
Feed The Hungry,
Heal The Sick,
Give to the poor,
And Help The Needy.
I learned this year in conformation that God has a purpose for my life. Early in my life when I had
been told that God must have other plans for me when I didn’t make it into something or win some-
thing, I thought that the person was just trying to make me feel better. Now, I realize that they were
right even if they were just trying to make me feel better. I realize that I am on the Earth for a reason. I
know that God has a plan for me. I don’t know what God is calling me to do yet, but I know that
whatever I am called to do, is the right thing to do, and is what God wants me to do.
I want to end with a bible verse from Proverbs 3:5-6:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, ac-
knowledge him, and he shall direct your path

I believe God made the Earth and all of us. God is only one god. I believe the Trinity is
the ways God works through to communicate with me and be with us. I believe Jesus Christ
came to Earth as a part of God to show me how to let him live through us. I believe the Holy
Spirit lives inside of me and is guiding me to make the right decision. I believe the Bible, has
two different testaments, but has the same God throughout. I believe church is a place we can
experience Christ through other people and worship together. I believe the church should al-
ways be open and be willing to help no matter how much time or money we have. I believe
God put me here for a purpose and I want to live out my purpose through God. My faith is
what I want to base my life on and always believe in God. I want to become a confirmed mem-
ber of the church because I love our church and everyone in it and I know God is in our church
with us and I would like to be a part of that.

I believe God is my guide. God is with me at all times no matter what I do or what will
happen. I believe God will be with me through life. I believe God was with me when the
church helped my family. I believe God is with me right now watching over me telling me that
I'm doing a great job.
I believe the Trinity is 3 major things: God, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. I believe the
Trinity helps us though our lives. I believe that they embrace us.
I believe the Holy Spirit is always within us and is the present of God. Also is there for
you in your prayers.
I believe the Bible has all the words of God. It is also there for us to read, learn the word
of God and to learn new scriptures and memorize them. It also has all of God's adventures that
are fun to read. I also believe the Bible tells us how Jesus was born and died on the cross. I be-
lieve the Bible tells is a story about everything that happened in Jesus’ life.
I believe the Church should be a place for everyone to be themselves and comfortable. It
is a family. It's a place to be loved and wanted. It should be where you can be open about any-
thing. A place to be listen to and is for all ages. Where adults and kids can do things on their
own. I believe the church has good missions trips that aren't forgettable. I believe the church
should have people smiling once they leave.
I believe I am one of God's Children and that he watches over everyone's move they
make. I believe I sin to God and my savior; that I'm not perfect to him enough to make him
happy. I believe I pray every night for the good things that happen in life not the bad things. I
believe I should help out more with my family and God. I believe I should be more like myself
to God.
My faith is important to me because it makes me the person i Am right now. If I didn’t
know anything about my faith I wouldn't be the person I am today. I wouldn’t have known
about Jesus' life and that he is there with me in my prayers.
Being confirmed and a member of this church is a big step in my life. I would get to par-
ticipate in things only the church
members can. I want to learn more about my life I have with God, and knowing that I am be-
ing confirmed makes me feel good inside' knowing that I did the right thing.
