What is Dorado?
Dorado is a enterprise class all-flash array that supports a standard SAN architecture and supports FC-SAN, IP-SAN and
InfiniBand networking.
Currently, Dorado comes in two models: Dorado2100G2 and Dorado5100, each one with different hardware specifications
and performance for mid-range and high-end markets.
Three key messages of Dorado:
1. Efficient: Enterprise class hardware architecture + optimized Cache algorithm and I/O schedule based on pure SSD =
extremely high IOPS and stable low latency
2. Reliable: Ensured high reliability at four levels: disk, system, solution, and application levels
3. Easy to use: A standard SAN architecture, integrated into the existing network smoothly, and Accelerate performance

Where to Sell Dorado?
Focus on two scenarios
1. Enhance customer's existing system, optimize DB applications. Any performance issue in DB application can be
solved with Dorado series. Most DB applications such as OLTP/OLAP, BI, ERP, and CRM, usually run into
performance issues after a couple of years. Customer's existing applications don't need to be changed. Instead, we
can add Dorado series to solve the DB’s performance issues easily.
2. New storage installations. Recently, storage tiering has become very popular. Tier1 storage should deliver high
IOPS and low latency and provide storage for applications such as DB, virtual desktops, and server virtualization,
etc. Dorado series fit very well in these scenarios
Typical application scenarios in the industry:
Electricity: smart grid scheduling system, etc.
Bank: decision support system, risk analysis system, etc.
Insurance: actuarial system, reporting system, etc.
…
Large enterprise: strategy analysis system, etc.
Retail: customer purchase behavior analysis system, etc.
Customs: E-port, customs risk evaluation system. etc.

For End Customers
① How to seek opportunities? Questions to ask:
• Is there any bottleneck on your DB application performance?
• Does the poor performance affects to your daily business?
• Does the report system delay your business decision?
② How to attract customers? Attract customers with the selling concept of
“Accelerate performance seamless".
③ How to get PO? Three key actions: POC + Precision marketing + Visit (Chengdu)
For Partners
① Seek regional professional AFA channels, build the confidence of channel
partners through three key actions: POC + Precision marketing + Visit
(Chengdu), and let them bring us into regional AFA ecosystem.
② Seek regional virtual gateway channels or SI or ISV, especially FalconStor NSS,
Datacore and IBM SVC. Try to collaborate with them and jointly built a
competitive acceleration solution for the regional market.
"Accelerate performance seamless" means that Dorado does not cause any change
to customers' existing DB application architecture and using habits. It blends into
the existing network as a standard SAN and highly improves the DB efficiency.
With Dorado, customers can easily address DB performance challenges.

Q&A Question 1: What's difference between Dorado and a PCIe SSD card?
Application scenarios
1. PCIe SSD cards are PCIe products directly installed into servers and typically have less latency than SSD array. They
are also ideal for caching and acceleration. Currently PCIe SSD cards are mainly used by Internet companies. Their
typical application scenarios are search engine and distributed DB. In addition, flash cache solutions based on
open-source Linux software (such as Flashcache or Bcache) are also recommended for Internet companies.
However, enterprise customers must use these solutions with caution.
Typical customers of PCIe SSD card: Tencent, Facebook, Twitter, Taobao, Jingdong, etc.
2. All-flash array Dorado is a standard SAN with data security and reliability capabilities. AFA is ideal for multi-host
and multi-application sharing and acceleration.
PCIe SSD card vs All-Flash Array
PCIe SSD Card All-Flash Array
Sharing A PCIe card typically benefits just one server. External Flash arrays can be shared by many servers in a SAN.
Server resource
occupation
A PCIe card can use up to 20%-30% of a server's CPU, and uses the server's memory for Flash management as well.
An AFA uses no host system resources.
Availability RAID is realized by installing more than one card. No HA is provided by PCIe cards.
HA and multiple RAID protection technologies, etc.
Scalability PCIe cards cannot scale. AFA can easily scale in a SAN environment.
Advanced functionality
PCIe cards do not support snapshots or replication to other cards or arrays, etc.
AFA can offer the advanced functionality of state-of-the-art disk arrays.

Question 2: Is Dorado the only solution to solve DB storage bottlenecks?
According to customer's DB performance research report: over 60% DB time is spent on I/O wait. I/O wait is the
top cause of a DB performance bottleneck. “ I/O wait CPU resource waste and idle Transaction per unit time
cannot be improved and concurrent quantity cannot be improved.”
So we believe DB efficient can be improved by reducing storage I/O latency.

Top 5 wait events in OLAP model
Misunderstandings on solving DB performance bottlenecks
1. Enhance server's performance.
Analysis: In the IT environment of most customers, computing
capabilities exhaust storage capabilities. As the virtualization
trend draws near, enhancing server configurations will be less
effective.
2. Add disks or use high-end storage arrays.
Analysis: Adding disks could improve system's concurrency, but
it's useless for latency reduction. A high latency not only slows
down system response, but also shackles system concurrency.
High-end storage cannot solve the I/O latency issue of physical
HDDs.
Anyway, there are many solutions available to improve DB efficiency,
but our recommendation is to add Dorado system to the existing
environment as SAN. Customers do not need to change their existing
applications, business deployments, and usage habits, while the DB
efficiency can be extremely improved.

Question 3: How Dorado does data protection?
The following solutions could be chosen for data protection based on
existing customer's environment.
1. Solution based on backup software. Locally or remotely back up
Dorado data if the customer has already deployed backup
software such as Symantec NBU and CV Simpana, etc.
2. Solution based on Dorado advanced software features.
Dorado5100 provides data replication, so we can deploy another
Dorado5100 locally or remotely and realize data protection in
two ways, synchronous or asynchronous.
3. Solution based on DB data protection software. For example,
Oracle ASM preferred read failure group (RPFG) can mirror SSD
with HDD and enable users to read data only from SSD. Another
log replication function such as Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server
Log Shipping and DB2 LUW HADR can be used to protect data.
4. Solution based on server mirrored volume. For example, with
help of AIX LVM (Logical volume manager), hosts can write data
into two different storage volumes and read data from the
higher-performance volume.

Dorado can be deployed on the existing network through the following ways: based on OS, bases on DB, and based
on third-party's virtual gateway. The solution is optional based on customer's existing network and requirements.
