DOWNRIVER SKI & SNOWBOARD CLUB Open to all downriver middle and high school students. Every Friday after-noon, January through February, the DSSC will take middle and high schools students skiing to one of several south east Michigan ski resorts. There they will get the opportunity to hang out with new friends around the fireplace and learn to ski or snowboard. Regardless of the student's ability level at the start of the season, the DSSC will work to help beginners reach the advanced level and help the advanced reach the expert level. Over 25 adult chaperones will be participating in the club to ensure students have a safe and fun experience. Trips will start and end at the Brownstown Com-munity Center on the corner of Telegraph Road and King Road in Browns-town. The annual membership fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt and club patch, which must be sewn on the students jacket sleeve. For students who don't need rental equipment, the cost for Friday trips will be $35 for skiers and
snow boarders. Rental gear is available for an additional $20 and $10 for a helmet. Helmets are required for all ski-ers and snowboarders! Until qualified at the advanced level, lessons are required each trip at a cost of $10 for skiers and $20 for snowboarders. Once skiers and snow boarders reach the advanced level in the student program (the Black Patch), their weekly trip costs will be reduced to $35 for both skiers and snow boarders (a big incentive to take a lesson every week).
