BASICS

ADVANCED BASIC BEGINNING QUILTING Sharron Meyer & Susan Sochacki July 16, 23, Aug., 6, 13, 20, and 27 Skill level: Beginning/Intermediate Time: 10:30-12:30 This class is the next step after taking our Basic Beginner’s Class. The goal of this six-week program is to build piecing and cutting skills, and to introduce new techniques. Students will learn: Flying geese, quarter-square triangles, square in a square, curved piecing, setting blocks on point, sashing, cornerstones, and mitered borders. This class is suitable for anyone comfortable with a rotary cutter and sewing an accurate 1/4” seam. There will be homework each week that must be completed before the next class. Fee: $65-plus $9 for handbook (collected at 1st class) This is the fee total for all 6 classes.

BEATLE BAG Denise Guckian Saturday, August 9 Time: 10:30 – 3:30 Skill level: Beginning Grab, Go and Sew with this fun bag. It comes with 4 plastic inserts that gives you 8 pockets that zip closed. Can be used for sewing, travel, cosmetics and so much more. It looks so stylish and is so simple to sew.

HAND APPLIQUE BASICS Susan Stephenson One-on-One Personal Instruction By Appointment Only Skill Level: Beginner or Experienced (Refresher Course)

Hand Appliqué Basics introduces the student to the fine art of Needle-Turn appliqué. Class instruction is based on two books by Mimi Dietrich: Baltimore Basics – Album Quilts from Start to Finish and Baltimore Blocks for Beginners. Each lesson (14 total) presents a new hand appliqué technique. Completion of a Baltimore Album Sampler Book (see shop display) or small wall hanging is possible as a keepsake of all the sewing techniques. Join me in personal one-on-one instruction to enhance your hand appliqué skills! Fee: Session 1: $85 for 7 lessons (introduction, paper-cut and Lesson 1-5 Session 2: $85 for 7 lessons (Lessons 6-12) Plus $20 registration fee collected at 1st class

QUILTING FOR THE CLUELESS – A Beginning Quilting Class Kenna Hough Tuesday, August 19, 26, September 2, 9, 16 Time: 5:30 – 8:00 Skill Level: Beginning

Have you wanted to try quilting but didn’t know where to start; or worse, you have felt a bit intimidated by the idea? This is the class for you. During these five sessions you will learn the basics while completing your first quilt. Multiple topics will be covered including fabric selection, rotary cutting, piecing, basting, basic quilting and finishing your quilt. Join this step-by- step class in an atmosphere designed to be relaxed and fun! Please be advised you will have assignments to be completed between classes. Fee: $65

BEADS OF COURAGE BAGS Pat Liesegang Monday, August 11 Time: 10:30-4 Have you thought you would like to find a way to help others? Well, this is a fun, easy and very satisfying class to fulfill that need. We make the bags used in the Beads of Courage program at Phoenix Children’s Hospital for seriously ill children. To find out more about this great program please go to www.beadsofcourage.org. All you need to bring is a sewing machine and a desire to make a child’s hospital experience just a bit more bearable.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY Thursday, July 24th – Saturday, July 26th

TECHNIQUES MONTHLY STASH SAMPLER QUILT Dawn Pedersen Saturday, 2nd Saturday of the month Tuesday, last Tuesday of the month Time: 9:30-10 Join us once a month while we create this beautiful sampler quilt. You will receive patterns for two blocks each month to be completed using fabric from your beloved stash. You will bring your two completed blocks in the following month in order to receive the next two patterns. At the first meeting we will focus on the colors and composition of the quilt. Count on having your quilt completed by year-end. This class offers you an opportunity to use all your creative skills in color, design and quilt completion. You will also have a pattern you will want to use again and again. We are scheduling this class on the same day as “Ask Sue” so you will be able to finish your blocks the same day, as well as enjoy a day of quilting and sharing with friends. Fee: $10

LOCKER HOOK Leslie Smith Monday, August 11 Time: 10-12 Skill Level: Beginning

Come with a hook tool and twine. I will supply you with a couple fabric strips and canvas to get you started on a trivet size project. You will not finish this project but will learn all the tips and tricks.

Fee: $20 *If you would like to have a 6 page hand out on the day of class the cost of that is $10**

STRIP TUBE CLUB BASIC Susan Taubel Sunday, September 14 Time: 12:30-3:30 Skill Level: All Levels In October, we will begin a Strip Tube Club which will feature a different Strip Tube pattern each quarter. To get you started, this Strip Tube Club Basics class will teach you how to use the Strip Tube Ruler. This ruler cuts half-square triangle blocks which are already diagonally pieced. Learn all the basics for using the Strip Tube Club from piecing your strip tube to cutting hints. Grab a “jelly roll” and the Strip Tube Ruler and join the fun.

3D CHRISTMAS RUNNER Bobbie Ward Thursday, September 18 Time: 12:30-3:30 Skill Level: All Levels Fun Table Runner for the holidays. All fat quarters so Christmas scraps work for this project. Simple enough for a beginner and still have time for fellowship. Good class for beginners.

MOD KID SUMMER FUN Denise Guckian Saturday, July 12 Time: 10:30 – 3:30 Skill level: Beginning Do you have a child in your life that plays with the popular 18” doll called the American Girl? If you do, you know how expensive the clothing can be. This class shows you how to make a blouse, cargo shorts, bathing suit, bathing suit wrap hat and tote bag for this doll. You will be shown shortcuts that will make sewing a breeze. A child 8 years of age and older is invited to sit and sew with parent or grandparent. Whoever supervises must have a knowledge of sewing.

Fee: $20

BEGINNER CROCHET Lori Swoveland Tuesday, July, 8,22, Aug 5, 19, Sept 2, 16 Time: 6-8 Skill Level: Beginning In the first class we will learn basic crochet stitches and how to read crochet patterns. In the second session we will work through completing a dishcloth pattern that will use the stitches you’ve learned. Fee: $8 per class

QUILTED GAME BOARDS Pat Liesegang Saturday, September 6 Time: 10:30-4 Skill level: All At the AQG show in February the “Sisters’ Quilting Trunk” ladies offered free patterns to make these game boards for sick children in the hospital. This two-sided game quilt is easy to make and a great gift to any child whether they are in the hospital or not. Any donated game boards will go to the children’s department at local hospitals. Fee: $25

CREATIVE CRAFT STATION Denise Guckian Friday, July 11 Time: 10:30 – 3:30 Skill level: Beginning A portable workstation that not only cushions your sewing machine but also gives you an area to iron on. There are 4 pockets that hang off the table to hold your sewing notions. Use it at home or travel with it for classes. Great for paper piecing and any project that needs lots of pressing as you sew. Fee: $20

GOOGLY QUILT Bobbie Ward Thursday, August 14 Time: 12:30-4 Skill Level: All levels Great fat quarter quilt with easy piecing. The pieces are pieces large enough to show off beautiful fabric. Great for leftover holiday fabric. The size for class will be the table topper using 9-fat quarters. You can always add more squares if you like the pattern. Fee: $30

CROCHET CLUB Lori Swoveland Sunday, July 6, Aug 3, Sept 7 Time: 1-4 Skill Level: All Come and bring your crochet projects and share ideas, have your questions answered. You will receive a new pattern each month. Fee: $8 per class

ASK SUE - Saturday Sue Bushmaker Saturday, August 9, Sept 13 Time: 10:30-4 Come work on your current project and bring any questions that you are having on your work. Sue will help you troubleshoot and get you back on target to finishing. Sue will also help you with embroidery. Fee: $15

Join us on a Friday night and bring a little project you have been meaning to get to but haven’t, something that just needs a little finishing up, or maybe you just want to come visit with other quilters. We eat, play a game, have show-n-tell, and sometimes finish a UFO. The store is open from 5 to 7 p.m. for BYOP participants only. Bring a drink for yourself and a snack to share. INTERNATIONAL MYSTERY QUILTS Dawn Pedersen Sunday, July 20, September 21 Time: 12-4 Skill level: All Levels Fun, fun, fun as we discover the pattern and solve the mystery of each quilt. You will learn multiple ways to use your blocks, as well as a bit of history about our United States. You will want to make more than one. Two color choices will be available for each quilt. Can't figure out how to use your serger or embroidery machine? Need a little guidance on how to assemble you latest project? Come to Ask Sue. I will be in the classroom during the day sewing, but will help with any challenges and answer any questions that you have. Come and sew. Look for your new project and don't be afraid to tackle it. Classroom Policies Our Class Dos: * Do pay ahead of time to ensure your spot. Payments may be made in the store, or by phone with a credit card. * Do show your receipt of registration to receive 20% off on class supplies only (we are not able to give 20% off after class has occurred) * Do bring your supplies to class. * Do be on time. * Do cancel a class ahead of time. You may do so up to 3 days prior to class and receive a store credit. You could also have someone else take your place in class. Jacobean Journey - Hoopsisters Becki Peterson 1st Thursday Pickup Demo only 1p-3p or 3rd Friday workshop 10-2 Skill level: All Levels 2014 EmbroidaBlock of the Month features quilting designed and digitized by Master Quilter, Sharon Schamber. Students can choose from many block sizes in 2014: 5", 6", 7", 8", and 9." 5" makes a Lap size quilt, 6" makes a Twin size quilt, 7" makes a Full size quilt, 8" makes a Queen size quilt, 9" makes a King size quilt. This quilt layout features 80 blocks. Adding the optional border takes this quilt to 168 blocks! 2014 will also offer bed runner options. This is the perfect quick sample to show off the amazing detail. You also have an option of doing the 2013 Feathered Star instead. $15/per month

ENGLISH PAPER PIECING CLUB Sharron Meyer 2nd Wednesday afternoon of each month. Time 1:30-4:30 Skill level: All Levels If you love to do handwork and portable projects, won’t you consider joining us for an afternoon of English paper piecing. We are a warm and friendly group who stitch, chat, and share ideas with each other for a very enjoyable afternoon each month. This will be an opportunity to relax and enjoy meeting some new friends while stitching the time away. Just bring along the project you are working on or consider starting something new.

We will be sharing the classroom space with the monthly Redwork club so lots of creative vibes will be floating around! Fee: $8/month

If you have a love of redwork hand embroidery and would like to spend some time on a monthly basis with ladies of a similar mindset, won’t you consider joining us on the 2nd Wednesday afternoon of each month? This will be an opportunity to relax and enjoy meeting some new friends while stitching the time away. Just bring along the project you are working on or consider starting something new.

We will be sharing the classroom space with the monthly English paper piecing club so lots of creative vibes will be floating around! Fee: $8/month

STITCHING WITH COLOR Monica Jansen 2nd Monday afternoon of each month. Starting in October Time 1-4 Skill Level: All October is the month that we start the new monthly club “Stitching with Color”. Learn how much fun it is to use crayons to change your stitching projects to colorful works of art. We will meet every month to learn new techniques, go over old ones and share ideas. Everyone can bring the project of their choice. There will be a quick and easy pattern given every month. Taking the Fabric coloring class offered before this club starts would be extremely helpful to those who would like to “hit the ground running”! Fee: $8/month Next
