Happy Holidays Cindy, Jennifer, Ernest and ALL the Quiltz Staff Yummy Puffcorn From Sharron Meyer Amount Measure Ingredient Preparation Method 2 bags (3 oz. each) Chester's puffcornbutter (blue bag) 1 bag (12 oz.) white chocolate chips colored sprinkles (optional) Prepare a surface for the puffcorn to dry when mixed with the white chocolate; a large baking pan with a silipat or spray with Pam, or waxed paper on your table. Pour the puffcorn into a large mixing bowl.Melt the white chocolate chips in a double boiler over hot (not boiling) water. Stir constantly until smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the puffcorn and toss till it is well coated. Sprinkle with color sprinkles if desired. Pour coated puffcorn onto the prepared drying surface and let sit for several hours till it sets up. Store in a container. DID YOU KNOW?? You can use the M&M Mini Container to hold your bobbins. BASIC BEGINNING QUILTING Sharron Meyer & Susan Sochacki Oct. 15, 22, 29; Nov. 5, 12, 19; Dec. 3, 10. Skill level: Beginning/Intermediate Time: 10:30a-12:30p This is an outstanding eight-week program, developed by a shop owner that will take you from rotary cutting to a finished quilt in weekly two-hour classes. You will learn the basics of rotary cutting, accurate piecing of two simple blocks, machine quilting, and binding your 39” x 48” size quilt. In addition, we love to toss in tips and tricks along the way. You must be comfortable using your sewing machine and prepared to do the weekly homework on your project. If you ever wanted to make a quilt and had no idea where to start, we have the perfect solution for you! Fee: $90-plus $15 for handbook (collected at 1st class) This fee total for all 8 classes

BEGINNING PAPER PIECING Sharron Meyer Friday, October 31 Time 10:30-3:30 Skill level: Beginning Paper piecing is a technique that insures perfect blocks every time, no matter how large or small your finished block is; it will become a valuable addition to your skills toolbox. A fun way to learn paper piecing is to make a small sampler quilt...which is exactly what we plan to do with this basic class. You will become “hooked” on the technique and eager to see how each unique, individual block turns out. I also plan to show you my foolproof method of joining the block segments together. Fee: $30

HAND APPLIQUE BASICS Susan Stephenson One-on-One Personal Instruction By Appointment Only Skill Level: Beginner or Experienced (Refresher Course)

Hand Appliqué Basics introduces the student to the fine art of Needle-Turn appliqué. Class instruction is based on two books by Mimi Dietrich: Baltimore Basics – Album Quilts from Start to Finish and Baltimore Blocks for Beginners. Each lesson (14 total) presents a new hand appliqué technique. Completion of a Baltimore Album Sampler Book (see shop display) or small wall hanging is possible as a keepsake of all the sewing techniques. Join me in personal one-on-one instruction to enhance your hand appliqué skills! Fee: Session 1: $85 for 7 lessons (introduction, paper-cut and Lesson 1-5 Session 2: $85 for 7 lessons (Lessons 6-12) Plus $20 registration fee collected at 1st class

QUILTING FOR THE CLUELESS II – The Simple Sampler Kenna Hough Tuesday , October 7, 14, 21, 28 and Nov. 4 Time: 5:30– 8:00 Skill Level: VERY Beginning

During this class you will complete a simple sampler that consists of four common quilt blocks: rail fence, 9 patch, flying geese, and friendship star. From start to finish we will cover the techniques needed to complete a quilt using the book “Start Quilting” by Alex Anderson. Whether you have no quilting experience or have just a bit of experience and want to learn more, this class will fit your needs. This class is for those who want to learn in a relaxed atmosphere. Completing a prior Quilting for the Clueless Class is not required. Please be advised you will have assignments to complete outside of class. Fee: $65

BEGINNER CROCHET Lori Swoveland Tuesday, Oct. 7, 21, Nov. 4, 18, Dec. 2,16 Time: 6-8 Skill Level: Beginning In the first class we will learn basic crochet stitches and how to read crochet patterns. In the second session we will work through completing a dishcloth pattern that will use the stitches you’ve learned. Fee: $8 per class

WELCOME BACK CAROL – WE MISSED YOU. MACHINE QUILTING I Carol Meka Friday, November 14 Time: 10:30-4:30 Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate Carol will guide you step-by-step into the ABSOLUTE freedom of free–motion quilting; meandering, echo, stippling, and creating your own overall designs. She will also be covering the importance of thread, batting, proper basting, and how to get that huge quilt under your machine! Her unique methods will develop confidence and beautiful stitches; she promises you will have FUN along the way. This will be a technique class and there will be no main project. We will be practicing on muslin. Fee: $60

TECHNIQUES STASH BUSTER STRIP QUILT Dawn Pedersen Saturday, 2nd Saturday of the month Tuesday, last Tuesday of the month Time and Date: Varies, Check Calendar Do you ever wonder what on earth you’re going to do with all your stash? This is the class for you. Join us once a month for seven months while we complete two blocks a month using fabric you already have. Our first meeting will focus on color and composition. You will have a beautiful quilt completed in a short time and the pattern is one you will use again and again. Take this opportunity to use all your creative skills in color, design and finishing. Come join us and share your unique quilt with the rest of the class. Fee: $10

LOCKER HOOK Leslie Smith Saturday, October 18 Time: 10-12 Skill Level: Beginning

Come with a hook tool and twine and a small size canvas (9X9). I will supply you with a couple fabric strips to get you started on a trivet size project. You will not finish this project but will learn all the tips and tricks.

STRIP TUBE CLUB – Holiday Cheer Susan Taubel Sunday, October 12 Time: 12:30-3:30 Skill Level: All Levels Welcome to the Strip Tube Club, featuring a different Strip Tube pattern each quarter. This quarter’s pattern is Holiday Cheer. We have created a strip bundle especially for Strip Tube Club. This time the bundle features holiday fabrics. This pattern with its easy layout can be completed before the holidays. Join us for the afternoon, starting your project. Fee: $20

HANG THE STOCKING Sharron Meyer Saturday, October 25 Time 10:30-3:30 Skill level: Beginning Get into the mood for the holidays with this fast and fun Christmas stocking. Make one for that someone special in your life. The stocking is fully lined and pieced with the quilt-as-you-go method. It finishes at 19 1⁄2 x 11 inches, a great size for all those little surprises from Santa. Fee: $30

ONE BLOCK WONDER ENCORE Bobbie Ward Sunday, Oct. 19 Time: 12:00-4 Thursday, Nov. 13 Time: 12:30-4 Skill Level: All levels The new “One Block Wonder Encore” book shows how to make the cubes you have seen in previous issues. This class will only deal with the cubes. They are amazing to make and how great they look tucked away in your one block wonder quilts. 60 degree triangle with 1/2” and 1/4” marks is a must Fee: $30

KALEIDOSCOPE KLINIC Susanne Triplett Saturday, Oct. 18, Nov.15, Dec. 27 Time: 10:30-4 Skill Level: Intermediate Welcome to the wonderful world of Kaleidoscopes! In this Klinic Susanne will show you how to use the “Stack-n-Wack” 45-degree triangle tool. Transform similar triangles into fabulous octagonal blocks. Bethany Reynolds “Stack-n-Wack” method will be used. FUN, FUN, FUN. Fee: $25

TWISTED FRENZY SWIRL TABLE RUNNER Cari Apostol Friday, Oct. 24 – (bring a snack) Time: 10:30-1:30 Skill level: All Bonnie Cleland’s terrific design makes this simple to make table runner a delight for the eye: it twists in – it twists out. It’s fascinating to look at. And it’s a snap to make with the right fabrics. Pillow case close means no binding and you’ll walk out of class with a table runner ready to use. AND we’re using Insul-Bright – so you can place hot items right out of the oven on it and will protect your table too. Come on…ya know ya want to do it! Fee: $15 Plus Pattern

NORTHERN LIGHTS Denise Guckian Saturday, Nov.1 Time: 10:30-3:30 Level: Beginner Northern lights is a fun simple pattern by Jaybird Quilts. Using different fabrics and a special ruler you can easily piece this beautiful quilt. When it is completely pieced it has a wonderful lightening bolt look. Fee: $15

Kim Schrader Fauth Quilt Teacher and Presenter Saturday, December 6th ABCD Quilting has step-by-step directions for making the 32 ABCD Blocks that will be used in the design process. The blocks are made in three steps by sewing on the diagonal and the sides in a specific order. No paper piecing, special rulers or templates are needed. The second part of the book explains how to use those blocks to design. The book includes approximately 40 pictures of various quilts. Six-hour Workshop - Students will come to class with 5" squares precut according to the Supply List. The first three hours will be spent sewing the 32 blocks using the ABCD Technique. During lunch there will be a mini trunk show describing how to design using the blocks. The time after lunch is spent squaring the blocks and designing. Fee: $40

The pattern has been through various updates through the years. the most recent being the result of the development of Quiltworx Bali Pops and laser-cut fusible applique products called Quiltworx Impressions, both of which were developed to complement the Flowers for My Wedding Ring pattern as its popularity continues to grow. Classroom Policies Our Class Dos: * Do pay ahead of time to ensure your spot. Payments may be made in the store, or by phone with a credit card. * Do show your receipt of registration to receive 20% off on class supplies only (we are not able to give 20% off after class has occurred) * Do bring your supplies to class. * Do be on time. * Do cancel a class ahead of time. You may do so up to 3 days prior to class and receive a store credit. You could also have someone else take your place in class. ENGLISH PAPER PIECING CLUB Sharron Meyer 2nd Wednesday afternoon of each month. Time 1:30-4:30 Skill level: All Levels If you love to do handwork and portable projects, won’t you consider joining us for an afternoon of English paper piecing. We are a warm and friendly group who stitch, chat, and share ideas with each other for a very enjoyable afternoon each month. This will be an opportunity to relax and enjoy meeting some new friends while stitching the time away. Just bring along the project you are working on or consider starting something new.

We will be sharing the classroom space with the monthly Redwork club so lots of creative vibes will be floating around! Fee: $8/month

This will be an opportunity to relax and enjoy meeting some new friends while stitching the time away. Just bring along the project you are working on or consider starting something new.

STITCHING WITH COLOR Monica Jansen 3nd Monday afternoon of each month. Starting in October Time 1-4 Skill Level: All October is the month that we start the new monthly club “Stitching with Color”. Learn how much fun it is to use crayons to change your stitching projects to colorful works of art. We will meet every month to learn new techniques, go over old ones and share ideas. Everyone can bring the project of their choice. There will be a quick and easy pattern given every month. Taking the Fabric coloring class offered before this club starts would be extremely helpful to those who would like to “hit the ground running”! Fee: $8/month

ASK SUE - Saturday Sue Bushmaker Saturday, Oct. 18, Nov.15, Dec. 13 Time: 10:30-4 Come work on your current project and bring any questions that you are having on your work. Sue will help you troubleshoot and get you back on target to finishing. Sue will also help you with embroidery. Fee: $15

Can't figure out how to use your serger or embroidery machine? Need a little guidance on how to assemble you latest project? Come to Ask Sue. I will be in the classroom during the day sewing, but will help with any challenges and answer any questions that you have. Come and sew. Look for your new project and don't be afraid to tackle it. Fee: $15/session
