Heralded by The New York Observer as a “celebration of public space,” Brooklyn Bridge Park is a spectacular 85-acre park on the Brooklyn waterfront. Framed by sweeping views of New York Harbor, the park stretches 1.3 miles from just north of the Manhattan Bridge to Atlantic Avenue.
Designed by award-winning landscape architecture firm Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, the park features expansive lawns, waterfront promenades, a greenway, innovative playgrounds, playing fields, natural habitats, direct water access, and Jane’s Carousel. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a pioneer in urban design with every aspect of the park’s design, materials, construction, operation, and maintenance guided by an ethos of sustainability.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy works to further energize the park with diverse and innovative programming. Close to 1,000,000 visitors have enjoyed free cultural, educational, and recreational activities and events in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

RECREATION — POP-UP POOL & BEACH
Three beautifully-situated sand volleyball courts on Pier 6 beckon players to practice their serves amidst stunning views of the New York Harbor.
Our series of clinics and camps for both adults and children attracted more than 1,000 people last summer, while an additional 4,200 people enjoyed the courts for recreational play.
Now that the word is out, we expect this year’s numbers to be even higher.
Pass. Set. Spike. Like never before.

A perfect summer night’s story starts with Books Beneath the Bridge.
Nearly 5,000 people have attended the series since 2012 and gathered around Martin Amis, Patti Smith, Colson Whitehead, and Paul Auster to hear them read their words first-hand.
Throughout July and August, six Monday nights will feature authors, representing six of Brooklyn’s best independent bookstores. Each evening will include readings, discussions, signings, and much more, as inspired by each author and our program sponsors.
