Ashwaubenon School District Upgrades Goelz FieldThe Ashwaubenon School District in partnership with a JAGfield Committee of dedicated supporters has seen their dream of installing synthetic turf and new sport field lights at Goelz Field, home of the Jaguars come true. Rettler Corporation has been honored to serve as the design consultant and construction manager throughout the cycle of planning, design and construction on this great community project.

Groundwork for the project was initially started several years ago. Momentum built during the fall of 2012 when

Rettler Corporation receives two ASBA awards

Rettler Corporation was recently named the winner of the Outstanding Single Field Award presented by the American Sports Builders Association on two projects. We were recognized for our work on the Athletic Complex at West De Pere High School in De Pere, WI and on the DeBot Tennis Courts at the University of Wisconsin -Stevens Point.

A panel of ASBA members judge entries on elements such as layout and design, site work, base construction, amenities, innovation and overall impression.

Rettler Corporation provided complete master planning of the entire complex, and construction bid document design and construction management services for the Bavarian Soccer Complex Renovation Project in the fall of 2013. Synthetic turf was installed on the stadium soccer field, along with upgrades to the concession and plaza areas. A seasonal dome structure was planned for, designed and bid as part of the project as well.

The Bavarian Soccer Club was created in 1929, and has had a rich tradition of soccer and German culture ever since. The Bavarian Soccer complex sits along the Milwaukee River in Glendale, WI. The 13 acre complex hosts many community, sports and special events with tens of thousands of people on site

throughout the year. Over 450 boys and girls play soccer at this complex annually.

The complex hosts multiple youth soccer tournaments as well as National level adult tournaments every year. In addition to soccer, the complex is host to many community events, including the annual Bock Bier Festival and Oktoberfest – one of the oldest authentic Oktoberfest celebrations in the country. The complex also hosts many private parties, picnics and weddings on site. With their new synthetic turf soccer facility, the Bavarian Soccer Club will be able to expand their programs and operational use, making the project a huge success. The Bavarian Soccer Club was able to begin practice on their new field on March 10, 2014, in the midst of an unstoppable winter.

The redesign of the project involved many existing elements to be preserved and included in the adjacent

concession restroom building, and the Oktoberfest grounds. The new synthetic field had to be elevated from its previous height to get the structure out to the floodplain. With the facility next to the Milwaukee River, and within the boundaries of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, creative storm water management facilities were engineered to handle storm water events, and make the construction of a synthetic turf facility possible. During construction of the new soccer facility, Rettler Corporation construction management managed the schedule so special events could take place, uninterrupted, in conjunction with project construction activity. Project safety was the number one concern on the site, and was achieved through careful project management and attention to detail with the product.

Endeavor Stadium could not be more aptly named. The newly constructed Stadium is set into the hillside on the east side of the Cumberland School District Campus. From the spacious plaza perched 20 feet above the new synthetic turf Stadium field, friends and supporters of the Beavers mingle and chat casually before Beaver football games. Physical education students take to the turf field for outdoor activities almost regardless of weather. And the School’s crack marching band has logged countless hours of action on the new field including hosting the first Northern Lights Marching Band Classic on Sept. 21, 2013.

As the Stadium name implies, the planning, design, funding and construction of Endeavor Stadium was work ... with a set purpose. The prime mover behind this enormous community endeavor was Cumberland School’s District Administrator Barry Rose. For at least 3 years prior to the final design and construction of Endeavor Stadium, the Rettler Team could count on running into Barry at the Rettler booth at the January School Board show in Milwaukee. He would

intently scan the recent Rettler projects and seek input from the Rettler designers on how certain elements might fit in to a potential new Stadium in Cumberland. Slowly, with work and purpose, a vision of the new Stadium developed.

But this endeavor would take a true community effort. The long-serving Mosier Field, the “downtown” football Stadium that held so many fond memories, was going to be difficult to dislodge in the minds of the “old timers” as THE place to play Cumberland football. Through a systematic approach, with set purpose, Barry Rose built a constituency of supporters and funders of a new Stadium to be built at the Cumberland High School site. Detailed cost analyses were performed documenting the cost effectiveness of the a new Stadium at the High School site compared to major

upgrade of Mosier Field. With time and a clear presentation of the facts, the Cumberland Community rallied around the concept of a new Endeavor Stadium. The School District held a classy “retirement party” for Mosier Field at the opening game of the 2013 football season. The 2nd home game of the season served as the inauguration of Endeavor Stadium.

Rettler Corporation was honored to assist the community with execution of the complete Planning, Design, Construction Management and Construction Layout for the Endeavor Stadium project. This athletic complex project consisted of a new synthetic turf football/soccer complex, new scoreboard with message center and sound system, a new plaza, concession/restroom building, and a decorative arch entryway with block columns.

Consider these facts:The Cumberland School District with a current grade 9-12 enrollment of 340 students and their local community of Cumberland with a population of 2,200 residents together raised over $2,500,00.00 to fund the Stadium. Now, that’s anENDEAVOR!

JAGfield Update

In October 2013 the entire JAGfield Team received a final piece of great news: The Green Bay Packers Foundation, in conjunction with the NFL Foundation, presented a $250,000 grant to the Ashwaubenon School District for the JAGfield.project, located just a few blocks south of Lambeau Field. The Packers secured the funds through the NFL Club Matching Youth Football Field/Stadium Grant Program as a match of money already raised for the JAGfield project. This is the second Packers grant done in conjunction with the NFL’s program and the 12th grant, totaling nearly $1.5 million overall, that the Packers have secured since 1998 for Wisconsin organizations working on new or renovated athletic fields and stadiums.

If your Stadium Field needs a facelift, give the Rettler Team a call. We’d love to work with you!

Since returning to Stevens Point Chase has had the opportunity to rediscover several of his passions including aviation, alpine skiing and golf. With summer around the corner he is excited to get active outdoors following this long winter.

Above all, Chase is excited about the future opportunities to make a difference in the year 2014, while working with a team of professional colleagues at Rettler Corporation who have the same passion and desire to make a responsible, sustainable, and positive impact on society and the environment.

soils in the vicinity of the new sport field lighting foundations kept the construction team on its toes. But with hard work and attention to detail the improvements were finished in time for the scheduled opening day event on Aug. 23, 2013 ... the debut of the 2013 Jaguars football team against arch-rival Green Bay Preble.

Was it the ProGrass in-fill synthetic turf? Was it the beautiful late August evening? Was it the drive of the Jaguars? Whatever the factor, the Jaguars came out victorious and the new JAGfield turf was christened in fine style. The new synthetic turf JAGfield at Goelz Stadium has been a work horse from Day 1. The following projected 2013/2014 usage of the Stadium Field reflects a great increase over the “old” natural grass field:

Fall 2013• 5 Varsity Football Games • 8 Freshman/JV Football Games • 6 Youth Football Events • 200 hours of Marching Band Practice • 180 hours of Freshman, JV, Varsity Football Practices • 36 hours of Boys Soccer Games/Events • 750 hours of Middle and High School Physical Education Classes

Spring 2014 • 100 hours of Marching Band Practice • 25 hours of Baseball Practices • 25 hours of Softball Practices • 36 hours of Girls Soccer Games/Events • 500 hours of Middle and High School Physical Education Classes
