welcomeOn behalf of the Annual Meeting Program Committee and the APD Board of Directors, I welcome you to the 2014 APD Annual Meeting! APD members are leaders in changing times, and the Annual Meeting provides the opportunity to engage in national conversations regarding all aspects of academic medicine/dermatology.
This year’s meeting will be special in many regards, but what will stand out historically is that this is the year we will be inaugurating the first APD Named Lectureship, the Lowell Goldsmith Lectureship. Jordan J. Cohen, MD, President Emeritus of the Association of American Medical Colleges will present “Are You Ready for the Paradigm Shifts?” In future years, the APD will continue to honor a national leader in medical education, health care, and/or research. A very special thank you to Dr. Luis Diaz, incoming President of the APD, for leading the endeavor to establish the Lowell Goldsmith Lectureship.
The 2014 Annual Meeting will kick off Friday morning with presentations re-lated to faculty development. Afternoon presentations include updates from the leadership of the Dermatology RRC and ACGME, the DTEG session and a Procedural Dermatology program. Saturday events include the Lowell Goldsmith Lectureship, updates from the ABD and AAD as well as concurrent sessions for Chairs, Program Directors & Faculty and Procedural Academic Dermatologists.
Whether you are a Chair, Program Director or Coordinator, Faculty member or Administrator in a dermatology department or division, the 2014 APD meeting will provide you with the information you need to lead in academic dermatology. Each session has been thoughtfully organized to present you with tools and ideas you will be able to implement and share at your institution. I am sure the 2014 APD Annual Meeting will leave you with revitalized energy to engage in the growth of academic dermatology and to be part of the solutions to the issues common to our training and educational programs.
Welcome to Chicago and the 2014 APD meeting!
