GUARD Gabe Fox North Mac senior 6-3, 310 Like Jon Myers, a big and mobile blocker who got out and pulled on most of the Panthers' plays. Fox and his line mates opened the way for 3,763 rushing yards by the North Mac attack. First-team All-Sangamo Conference. GUARD Jake Roth Auburn junior 6-4, 260 Despite missing several games due to a hand injury suffered in Week 7, Roth came back for the Trojans' first-ever semifinal victory and the Class 2A state title game against Downs Tri-Valley. The Auburn line opened the way for a truly balanced offense: 2,704 yards rushing and 2,349 yards passing. First-team All- Sangamo Conference. TIGHT END Logan McBride Pleasant Plains senior 6-2, 210 A valuable player on both sides of the ball (tight end and defensive end), was second on the team in receptions (35) and yardage (494) while scor- ing three touchdowns - includ- ing the game-winner late in a Week 2 win at Auburn. Also 34 solo tackles and a team-high 16 for loss. Unanimous All- Sangamo Conference tight end and defensive end. QUARTERBACK Cam Cummings New Berlin senior 5-11, 180 Stepped in for last year's all- area quarterback, Jake Hunt, and led the Pretzels to their third straight playoff berth. Was 148-for-244 passing for 2,206 yards and 21 touch- downs while rushing for 777 yards and scoring 16 more TDs. Set a school record for total yards in a season (2,983). IHSFCA Class 2A All- State; second-team All- Sangamo Conference. RUNNING BACK Jacob Dixon Carlinville junior 6-0, 170 Set a single-season rushing standard at a school with a strong running-back tradition. Finished with 2,029 yards and 32 touchdowns for 8-3 team. Finished regular season with 1,750 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns, breaking Babatunde Ridley's nine-game CHS record of 1,659 yards in 1995 and Kinney Myles' 25 touchdowns last year. All- South Central Conference run- ning back and defensive back. RUNNING BACK Austin Galloway Pawnee junior 6-2, 215 Running out of a three-pronged Pawnee attack, physical wing- back was the Indians' leading rusher with 1,287 yards (7.3 per carry) and 17 touchdowns as they went 9-2 and won their second straight Prairie State Conference title. Named Prairie State Offensive MVP. WIDE RECEIVER Connor Burger New Berlin senior 6-0, 170 Continued the Pretzels' tradi- tion of accomplished receivers, grabbing 58 passes for 918 yards and 11 touchdowns as the Pretzels finished second in the Sangamo Conference at 6- 2. Burger's 918 receiving yards eclipsed the school record of 750 by then-senior Chase Creviston last season. All- Sangamo Conference. WIDE RECEIVER Drew Points Auburn senior 5-10, 160 Acrobatic receiver rewrote several Auburn school records. Points set single-season marks for receptions (100) and receiving yards (1,524). He also set career records for catches (131) and receiving yards (2,226). Also set a school mark for TD catches in one game (four against Villa Grove in the 2A second round). He logged 60 total tackles and also had a fumble recovery for Pana's South Central Conference champs. Also had three touchdown receptions at tight end. All-South Central Conference. FIRST-TEAM OFFENSE CENTER Joe Krall New Berlin senior 6-2, 255 Led the offensive line for a 7-3 team that rolled up 3,875 total offensive yards, topping last year's 3,361 when the Pretzels reached the second round of the playoffs. Also was one of New Berlin's top defensive linemen. First-team All- Sangamo Conference. LINEMAN Tucker May Taylorville senior 6-2, 220 The noseguard was a major force for the Apollo Conference champions, total- ing 103 tackles with a team- high 22 tackles for loss. He was at the forefront of a defense that allowed two or fewer touchdowns in 10 of 12 games as Taylorville went 11-1. Unanimous All-Apollo Conference. LINEBACKER Evan Patterson Auburn senior 6-1, 183 Big senior played a key role on a defense that improved throughout the season, result- ing in Trojans' first state-title- game berth. Was No. 2 on team in total tackles (149) including team-high 97 solos, 4.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. Also filled in on offensive line due to injuries. All- Sangamo linebacker. DEFENSIVE BACK Chris McQuire Nokomis senior 6-1, 175 Versatile player earned All- Prairie State Conference hon- ors at three positions: defen- sive back, quarterback and kicker. McQuire was second on the team in total tackles (84), including 31 solos and six tack- les for loss. Also had one inter- ception and three fumble recoveries. All-Prairie State first-team defensive back. DEFENSIVE BACK Adam Miller Pana junior 6-2, 150 One of the top athletes on Pana's South Central champi- ons, Miller snatched six inter- ceptions and a fumble recov- ery while making 44 tackles. He also had a team-leading 33 catches for 862 yards and six touchdowns. All-South Central Conference defensive back and wide receiver. DEFENSIVE BACK Tanner Thomason Taylorville senior 5-11, 165 A very active defender, Thomason was second for the Apollo Conference champs in total tackles (123) while mak- ing seven tackles for loss, two interceptions, two forced fum- bles and one fumble recovery. Unanimous All-Apollo Conference. DEFENSIVE BACK Jesse Trew North Mac junior 6-2, 165 Was second on the Panthers in total tackles (116) and solos (62) while grabbing three interceptions, making three tackles for loss and forcing a fumble. All-Sangamo Conference. PUNTER Rhett Zahradka Pana senior 6-0, 160 All-area punter for the second straight year, also helped lead Panthers to unbeaten regular season from quarterback spot. Averaged 37.96 yards on 27 punts. At quarterback, passed for 1,800 yards and 12 touch- downs while rushing for 327 yards and 10 scores. All-South Central Conference punter and quarterback. FLEX PLAYER Vince Vignali Williamsville senior 6-0, 190 Rarely left the field, stepping into quarter- back spot while playing line- backer and defensive back in transitional year for the Bullets. Had 66 total tackles (18 solo) while getting two interceptions. At QB, passed for 1,341 yards and 13 touch- downs and rushed for 886 yards and 11 scores. Also aver- aged 39 yards per punt. All- Sangamo Conference utility defense and punter. LINEMAN Jacob Taylor Athens senior 6-2, 230 Taylor, a defensive tackle, spent a lot of time in opposing teams' backfields. He had 63 solo tackles including a school-record 19 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Eight tack- les for loss came in Athens' three playoff games as Warriors reached quarterfinals for second straight year. IHSF- CA 2A All-State; unanimous All-Sangamo defensive line. LINEBACKER Josh Franke Litchfield senior 6-2, 250 Moved in from nearby Staunton and had a big impact for the Purple Panthers' defense as they posted their most victories (four) since 2009. He chalked up 70 solo tackles (110 total) including 19 tackles for loss, one intercep- tion, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. All- South Central Conference. LINEBACKER Mason Hutchins Niantic Sangamon Valley senior 6-1, 190 A 630-yard running back for the Storm, Hutchins was equally talented on the defen- sive side as he totaled 127 tackles (45 solo). Part of a twin-brother combination with quarterback Miles Hutchins, Mason finished as Sangamon Valley's leader in career tack- les (346). Unanimous All-LOVC Northwest linebacker. LINEBACKER Wade McMillen Pana senior 6-1, 208 Considered the leader of Pana's suffocating defense, led the Panthers with 106 total tackles (37 solo), three inter- ceptions and two fumble recoveries. Also was the South Central champions' rushing leader with 776 yards and 15 touchdowns. All-South Central Conference linebacker. FLEX PLAYER Wyatt Royce Niantic Sangamon Valley junior 5-6, 140 Versatility earned him first- team flex player honors for the second straight year. Royce helped the 9-2 Storm in a vari- ety of ways, including 858 yards on 81 carries, 15 receptions for 258 yards and two scores, and 43-for-48 kicking extra points. All-LOVC Northwest Division running back, defensive back and kicker.
