The company has proud history of old traditions in the leadership of design and production of metrological equipment. Its workforce has been involved for over fifty years in the supply of measuring technology and systems to automate factories as well as in the develop-ment of optical scale manufacturing technology.
In 2000 the production process was certified to fully meet the requirements of ISO 9002, in 2003 - ISO 9001.

Since formation of Joint Venture “Brown & Sharpe -Precizika” in 1991 itsmajor co-ownerwas one of theworld’s largestmanufacturersof coordinatemeasuringmachines (CMM) theUScompany “Brown&Sharpe”,whichinMay2001becameapartofaglobalengineer-ingandtechnologygroupHexagon (Sweden). In2007JV“Brown&Sharpe-Precizika”becamean indepen-dententerpriseCJSC“PrecizikaMetrology”afterinternalreorganizationofHexagongroup.
The company currently manufactures:
• photoelectricandmagneticlinearpositionencoders;
partsoftheequipment.
Photoelectric encoders operate on the principle oflightmodulationbypassingitthroughapairofscales.Then ithits light-sensitivedetectorsand isconvertedintosinusoidalsignals,whicharefurtherprocessedbyelectroniccircuits.
Photoelectric encoders are used to convert workingparts(machinetools,robots,etc.)angularorlineardis-placements intoelectricalsignalscontaining informa-tionaboutthemagnitudeanddirectionofthedisplace-ment. After further signal processing by the numericcontroldevices(processorcomplexes,digitalreadoutdevices), this information is used to control moving

Mechanicalassemblyprovidesrotationofencodershaftrelative to housing, protects optical and electronic as-sembliesfrommoisture,dustandvibration.Opticalas-semblyconsistsofalightsource–infraredlightemitteddiode(LED) (orLEDandcondensing lensforprecisionencoders),reticleanddiscscale.Discscaleandreticlepairmodulatesthe lightpassingthroughthem.Onthereticlelinesarelocatedinfoursectors:thesectorsinthepairsareshiftedbyhalfstepoflinesandbetweenpairsshiftis¼stepoflines.Additionalcodesectorislocatedonthereticleforreferencesignalgeneration.Eachout-putsignaloftheencoderisformedbyapairofphoto-diodesandduetoantiphasephotodiodesconnectiontheDCsignaloffsetiscompensated.Additionalpairofphotodiodesgeneratesthereferencepositionsignal.
FourphotodiodesarrangedbehindthediscandreticlegeneratetwoorthogonalcurrentsignalsI1andI2.Twophotodiodesarrangedbehind thecodesectorsgener-atereferencesignalI0.Dependingontheoutputsignalsrequired by the application the appropriate electronicblockisbuiltintotheencoder,ittranslatesphotodiodecurrenttofouroutputsignaltypes:11µAsine-wavecur-rent(versionA,)1Vppsine-wavevoltage(versionAV),TTLsquare-wave(versionF)orHTLsquare-wave(versionF).

Absolute encoder is a device that provides absolutepositional information. Absolute encoder generates auniquecode for eachposition.The resolution is equalto2n(n=numberofbit),encoderusesgray(a)orbinary(b)coding,whichistranslatableintomanydifferentpro-tocols.
Thisencodertypeisnormallyusedtomonitorshaftposi-tionduringpowerupandpowerdown.Unlikeincremen-talencoders,theencodedoutputletsyoureadtheshaftpositionwithoutmovingtheencoder.
Absoluteopticalencodersuseoptical-mechanicalcom-ponentssimilar to thoseof the incrementalopticalen-coder but code disc, reticle and electronic processoraredifferent.Codedischasmanytracksdependingonresolutionandcode.
ABSOLUTE ENCOdERS
The encoder consists of optical-mechanical and elec-tronic assemblies. Sealed linear encoder consists ofscalefixedinthespecialaluminiumhousing,reticlewith
lightsource(LED)andPCB.Intheopentypelinearen-coder (withoutprotectivehousing) the scale ismount-edontheobjectandfixedbyspecialclampsorsimplygluedtothesurface.Thereticleassemblymovesalongthescalesupportedbyballbearingsandisconnectedtomeasuringheadhousingviaindependentspringsus-pension.Sealing lips aremounted in the housingwithscalefortheprotectionofinnerspaceofencoderfromdust and moisture ingress (IP53). Measuring head isconnectedviacabletotheCNC,DROorotherprocess-ingequipment. Insomeapplicationsspecialprotectionis not necessary and then open versions of encoderscanbeused.
Opticalassemblyconsistsoflightsource–infraredlightemitteddiode(LED),reticleandscale.Scaleandreticlepairmodulatesthe lightpassingthroughthem.Onthereticlelinesarelocatedinfoursectors:thesectorsinthepairsareshiftedbyhalfstepoflinesandbetweenpairsshiftis¼stepoflines.Additionalcodesectorislocatedonthereticleforreferencesignalgeneration.Eachout-putsignaloftheencoderisformedbyapairofphotodi-odesandduetoantiphasephotodiodesconnectiontheDCsignaloffsetiscompensated.Additionalpairofpho-todiodes generates the reference position signal. Fourphotodiodes arrangedbehind the reticle generate twoorthogonalcurrentsignals I1and I2.Twophotodiodesarranged behind the code sectors generate referencesignalI0.Dependingontheoutputsignalsrequiredbytheapplicationtheappropriateelectronicblockisbuiltintotheencoder,ittranslatesphotodiodecurrenttofourtypesoutputsignals:11µAsine-wavecurrent (versionA), 1Vpp sine-wave voltage (version AV), TTL square-wave(versionF)orHTLsquare-wave(versionF).

Encoder could be supplied with external zero signalactuator (magnet), which allows usage one of manyreferencemarksmadeonmagnetic band. Zero signalactuatorisnotnecessaryifthemagneticbandwithref-

reading head has LED, which indicates the referencemark passage through head. In encoder PCMT the
compressed air (P = 600 kPa) is blowed into case ofheadtocleantherailsurfacefromsmallfragments.
