MAYOR’S WELCOME

Welcome to competitors and families to the Shire of Campaspe and particularly Echuca for the 2015 Australasian Firefighters Championship. For those visiting our region for the first time, I hope you enjoy everything we have to offer. I wish all competitors the best of luck and would like to encourage you, along with your families, to take time to enjoy all the other wonderful activities that our region has to offer. Echuca is not only a great place for the championships, make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to wander through the historic port precinct, ride on a beautifully restored paddlesteamer,

take a hit of golf and sample the various cafes and restaurants. Find out more about the range of activities and facilities by dropping into the Visitor Information Centre. Congratulations to the coordinating committee, which has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure this event's success. Volunteers are an important part of our community and we are lucky to have strong and united community groups who contribute so much to make our Shire a fantastic place to live. I take this chance to wish everyone good luck for the competition, enjoy Echuca, and more importantly, enjoy yourselves. Cr Leigh Wilson Mayor Shire of Campaspe

CFA CHIEF OFFICER’S WELCOME

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) Victoria is pleased and proud to be hosting the bi-annual 2015 Australasian Firefighters Championship in Echuca. Fire agencies have a long history of helping each other in times of need to support our overarching priority the protection of life, property and the environment. The Australasian Firefighter Championship is a way of strengthening the relationship between fire services across Australia and New Zealand. This year we also welcome competitors from the National Fire Authority of Fiji.

Participation, teamwork, friendship and friendly rivalry exemplify these Championships. There are clear benefits for individual firefighters attending through the opportunity to practice and improve skills in a competitive environment that have been demonstrated time and time again to translate into greater proficiency on the fireground. I offer my sincere thanks to those who have supported and through the course of the weekend will support the event from the Championships Committee to officials, supporters, participants, families and our host brigade Echuca. It is your involvement and hard work that will make this a great event. And to all competitors – Good luck! I wish everybody a successful and enjoyable Competition Enjoy the weekend! Euan Ferguson AFSM Chief Officer

CHAIR, ECHUCA FIRE BRIGADE ORGANISING COMMITTEE

On behalf of the Echuca Fire Brigade and the Organising Committee I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone attending the 2015 Australasian Firefighters Championships. Echuca has been a long time supporter of these championships and has attended every one since the Federation Championship in Corowa in 2001. It is very pleasing to be able to return the favour of hospitality, friendship and good will amongst the many teams, officials and supporters visiting our City.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to CFA, VFBV and our sponsors who have all worked with the organising committee to ensure the championships will be a success. Certainly without the financial contribution of these supporters the event would not have continued. We encourage you to visit the sponsors display tents adjacent to the track. This is the first time the championships will be held on a bitumen track. Victorian sides are used to these conditions and no doubt visiting teams will adapt quickly in the spirit of competition. The organising committee have road tested all of the events and we hope that the rules governing events have been clear enough to allow teams and officials to prepare. To provide a future foundation for the championships we have created a Facebook page which has become a repository of information to all agencies and will be handed to the next hosts. You can find it at https://www.facebook.com/austfirechamps We wish all teams the best and have an enjoyable stay in Echuca Moama.
