2015 DESOTO COUNTY WILDLIFE ART CONTEST RULES & GUIDELINESThe DeSoto County Wildlife Art Contest is sponsored by the Great Outdoor Family Expo and Longview Heights Baptist Church. The contest is open to all children in grades K-5 in public, private or home-school, after-school program, scout troop, art class, etc., or just an individual child that wants to enter! Essentially any child of K-5th grade age is eligible as long as a responsible adult reads, agrees to and signs their entry form.

A QUALIFIED ENTRY includes 1) a completed & signed Entry Form (lhbc.me/artcontest - “Entry Form” link) and 2) the child’s artwork. BOTH must be included! The entries are grouped and judged by grade (K-5). Prizes will be awarded for each grade group. THE CONTEST: Draw one of the following animals: Bass, Deer, Duck, Elk, or Turkey in their natural habitat according to the guidelines below. There are sample pictures on our website that suggest the “type” of entries desired. All contestants will receive a ‘Certificate of Recognition’ for participating in the Contest. THE ARTWORK GUIDELINES:

• should depict any one of the following animals: Bass, Deer, Duck, Elk, or Turkey • should show the animal in its natural habitat.• should be the contestant's original, hand-done creation and must not infringe upon any copyright

laws. Photographs and computer-generated artwork will not be accepted.• should be at least 8.5” x 11”• should be HORIZONTAL (landscape), without a mat, frame or border.• should not have the artist’s signature, initials or name on front.

Mediums may include, but are not limited to, oils, scratch-board, chalk, pastels, charcoal, colored pencil, acrylics, dry brush, watercolor, lead, collage, and crayon. Please spray chalk and pastel entries with a fixative to eliminate scuffing & smudging. A loose cover sheet may be laid over the face for protection.

• Entries must be delivered to Longview Heights Baptist Church, Building “F” (4501 Goodman Road) Monday, February 23rd - Thursday, February 26 between 8:00 am and 5:00 p.m.

Only one DeSoto County Wildlife Art Contest entry per student will be accepted.Artwork will be judged independently and impartially and prizes awarded for 1st - 3rd place in each grade (K-5)

THE FINE PRINT The DeSoto County Wildlife Art Contest is not open to the immediate relatives of Longview Heights’ employees or participating sponsors of the Outdoor Expo.The Decisions of DeSoto County Wildlife Art Contest Judges are final. The Outdoor Expo Leadership Team:

• will select an independent and impartial team of judges.

• has the right to use the name and grade of any DeSoto County Wildlife Art Contest contestant, without compensation, to administer and promote the Contest.

• retains the right to copy and or photograph entries for future advertising.

• may produce products such as posters, prints, etc. from winning entries to promote the DeSoto County Wildlife Art Contest.

• reserves the right to destroy unclaimed entries after one week. (Friday, March 6th)

• will not insure entries it receives or be responsible for loss of or damage to the entries.
