Finals Day finally arrived on Friday 12th June at Club Áras. A huge crowd turned out in fantastic weather for the culmination of this event which began with a launch night on Friday 8th May. Official match programmes were bought by the crowd, Piper Christy McCarthy led the 6 teams onto to the pitch where everyone observed Amhran na bhFiann. A huge roar went up at it's conclusion and Referee Jim Daly who reffed all 3 finals impeccably, threw in the ball for the first of Youghal's 3 "Mini All-Irelands". The crowd were entertained by all 3 finals and each one was decided by a puck of a ball with the result in doubt right to the end. A credit to all 6 teams and their managers. Afterwards Cups, shields and medals were presented to the victorious and vanquished teams by Angela Pomphrett, Kathleen Bulman and Dan O'Sullivan and the joy on each players face was priceless. Players, mentors, parents and friends all made their way to the clubhouse for a meal and refreshments and many tales of the past 6 weeks of hurling were recalled and discussed. Once again, a fantastic climax to a great competition, and one which these young players and parents will remember for years to come. And the 1 question which was being asked afterwards was what will we do next Monday? We hope to do it all again next year 2016 !! Eochaill Óg Abú
