1. Admission Policy The Graduate School of Management at GLOBIS University has a mission to develop visionary

business leaders who create and innovate societies. When considering applicants, we therefore pay

close attention to an individual’s personal motivation, skill-sets, ability to think logically and way of

interacting with others. We aim to attract future business leaders who are passionate about improving

their skills, expanding their human network and finding their personal mission. In this way, we believe

3. Admission Requirements Applicants to GLOBIS University need to satisfy the following requirements at the time of entrance.

If you do not meet one or more requirements, you will be required to undergo a Preliminary

Screening (refer to section 4-1).

Be at least 22 years of age

Have at least three years of full-time work experience

Whether your university is public or private, meet ONE of the following criteria:

(1) Received a bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university.

(2) Completed 16 years of education in an institution outside of Japan.

(3) Received confirmation from GLOBIS University that your academic capacity is equivalent to that of

a university graduate.

4. Admission Schedules

If you pass the initial screening, you will be informed of your interview date from the possible dates above. In principle, schedule changes for the interview will not be permitted unless the applicant makes a request to the Admissions Office on the Online Admission System when submitting the application.

Multiple applications within the same academic year for the Part-time MBA Program (Japanese), Part-time MBA Program (English) or Full-time MBA Program (English), including reapplication for any one of these programs, will not be accepted.

4-1. Preliminary Screening Process

*This is only for applicants who do not meet the requirements in section 3. At GLOBIS we aim to encourage diversity and provide opportunity to individuals from different

backgrounds. If you are 22 years of age or more but do not meet the other requirements in section 3,

you can still apply for the Full-time MBA Program, but will first need to pass the Preliminary Screening.

The documents listed below need to be submitted through our Online Admission System by the

deadlines shown in the following table. You will be notified of the results of the screening on the Online

Admission System.

5. Admission Process Admission will be decided after a comprehensive review of your credentials through (1) an initial

screening phase (mainly of the submitted documents) followed by (2) a second screening phase

(mainly through an interview).

For applicants living in Japan: You will need to join a face-to-face interview (30 minutes).

For applicants living overseas: You will need to join a telephone interview (30 minutes).

6. How to Apply Applicants are required to submit the application documents listed in section 7 through the Online

Admission System (https://mbaadmission.globis.ac.jp/adm/c/ac0001) by 6:30 pm, Japan Standard

Time of the deadline dates in section 4. Applications submitted by e-mail, fax or mail are NOT

accepted.

The application fee cannot be reimbursed or deferred to another academic year.

Once submitted, you will not be able to make any changes to documents.

Accepted applications which contain falsified or plagiarized information will automatically

result in the withdrawal of acceptance.

The application will not be examined if it is incomplete or contains errors.

7. Application Documents

Applicants can submit all of the documents through the Online Admission System. Documents written in languages other than English are NOT ACCEPTED, except where

otherwise prescribed. If the document is written in a language other than English, please attach an English translation

signed by a translator. ■Personal Data (required for all) - Fill out your personal data, work experience and academic record as requested on the Online Admission System. - Make sure to show that you possess more than three years of full-time work experience. Otherwise, you will need to undergo a preliminary screening (see section 4-1). ■Applicant Photo (required for all) - Upload a high resolution digital image in JPEG format (below 2MB). - Should be a headshot with no hats or other headgear in front of a white or blue background and taken within the last three months. The photo will be used for your Student ID Card. ■Letter of Recommendation (required for all) - One letter of recommendation is required. - By sending a request from the Online Admission System, your recommender will be able to receive a link to download a recommendation letter form and upload it to the system. - If your recommender is unable to make the submission online, you can receive the original letter signed and sealed by the recommender and send it to the Admissions Office by registered air or express mail by the application deadline. - The recommender should be a supervisor or person who has or has had a close business relationship with you. ■Transcript (required for all) - Upload a transcript of your bachelor's degree (master’s and/or doctor’s degrees are optional). If you are a Preliminary Screening applicant and do not have a bachelor's degree, you will need to upload a transcript of your highest level of education (e.g., associate degree). - The transcript must include a list of all courses you completed and the grades you received. -You may upload a copy of your transcript; however, you will be asked to send an original transcript by post for verification should you be admitted to GLOBIS. A photocopy is only accepted if officially certified by legal authorities. ■Certificate of Graduation - If the graduation date and the name of your obtained degree are stated in your transcript, it is not necessary to submit a Certificate of Graduation. Otherwise, you must upload a Certificate of Graduation for your bachelor's degree (master’s and/or doctor’s degrees are optional). - Uploading a copy of your Certificate of Graduation is acceptable; however, you will be asked to send an official Certificate of Graduation by post for verification should you be admitted to GLOBIS. A photocopy is only accepted if officially certified by legal authorities. ■Evidence of English Ability - Upload evidence of your English Ability issued within the last two years. - TOEFL*, TOEIC, and IELTS scores are accepted. (*We strongly recommend the TOEFL test.) - You can be exempted from submitting the evidence if: a) You are a native English speaker and chose “English” as your “Native Language” on the Online Admission System. b) You received an undergraduate or graduate degree from a program taught entirely in English. Please note: if you received this degree from a university NOT located in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, the United Kingdom or the United states of America,

you will need to upload an official letter from your university or submit a link (attached in a word document) to the university's web page clearly indicating that the program was taught entirely in English. ■Essays (required for all) - Answer the essay questions on the Online Admission System. (Refer to section 7-1 for the questions.) ■GMAT/GRE Score Report (optional, but strongly recommended) - If you have an official score issued within the last five years, please upload it. ■CV (optional) - If you have a CV, please upload it. ■Statement of Financial Resources (all non-Japanese applicants) - Download the prescribed form from the Online Admission System, read the instructions, fill out the form and upload it to the system. ■Evidence of Financial Resources (all non-Japanese applicants) - Upload evidence of your bank account balance within the past three months. (Must include the issue date, your name, account number, savings amount.) - In case your savings do not meet the required amount, be sure to submit your supporter's bank account balance AND a signed letter of consent from this person. - Japanese documents are acceptable. Please note: We may ask you to re-submit your financial evidence at the time of your student visa application if you require one. ■Residence Card (all non-Japanese applicants living in Japan) - Upload both sides of your residence card. - We accept cards in Japanese. ■Scholarship Application (all applicants are eligible to apply) - Answer the scholarship essay question on the Online Admission System if you would like to apply. - Refer to section 11-1 for the screening criteria and essay question.

Application Fee - Applicants in Japan: JPY 36,000 - Applicants living overseas: JPY 11,000 *Credit card payment only. Cash payments are not accepted.

Policy of Returning Documents Once submitted, we will not return any documents that can be reissued or replaced by other means. This includes the following: Letter of recommendation, Transcript, translation(s), notarized certifications, CV, evidence of financial resources, statement of financial resources, photocopy of Residence Card. If you would like us to return a certain document, please send a request to us by email ([email protected]) with your reasons. ONLY if we are shown that your document cannot be reissued, we will return the document by mail.

7-1. Essay Questions The following essay questions need to be answered in your application. Please emphasize any

international experience where applicable.

Q1. Tell us about a work or project experience about which you were the most passionate. Describe your team members, your values and skills concretely in order to explain why you were passionate

about it. (250 to 550 words)

Q2. Tell us about any leadership experience involving other people or organizations in work or a project within the last three years. Describe your values and skills concretely in order to explain how

you achieved your goals. Mention in particular any experience where you tried to “create or innovate” a

part of society such as starting something from scratch, establishing a company/project or making a

change in your team/strategy, regardless of the results. (250 to 550 words)

Q3. People say that leaders become greater by learning from difficult situations. Tell us about the most difficult situation you have faced. Describe concretely what you did about the situation and what

you learned from it. (250 to 550 words)

Q4. Tell us about your vision for society as a business person and your career plan to realize the vision, looking back on your life and business experience. Describe specifically the trigger point or

inspiration that helped you realize your vision, such as an encounter with a person or book or other

kind of experience. Describe how GLOBIS University and an MBA degree would bring value to your

vision and career plan. (250 to 550 words)

Q5. Tell us about any social, volunteer or other activities (including during university/college) that you have been involved in. Please describe the name of the activities, periods and your roles. Also, please

mention any academic and/or business prizes you have received. (250 to 550 words)

Q6. (Only for non-Japanese native speakers) If you can speak Japanese, please tell us your level, and explain your experience learning Japanese (duration, schools, certificates etc.) within 50 words.

8. Interview - If you pass the initial screening, you will be invited to an interview. (Please check the schedule in section 4.)

- For applicants living in Japan: You will need to join a face-to-face interview (30 minutes).

- For applicants living overseas: You will need to join a telephone interview (30 minutes).

9. Final Results and Enrollment Registration

You will be notified by email when the admission results are finalized. You will be able to check the results and download an Acceptance Letter and Enrollment Registration Guide on your Online Admission System. Be sure to complete the enrollment registration by the deadline described in the Enrollment Registration Guide.

Please note that we cannot respond to any inquiries regarding application results (including over the phone).

10. Tuition & Living Costs in Tokyo

*To be paid within two weeks after the Final Admission Results Notice

Please note: If you cannot complete the Full-time MBA Program in one year, an extra tuition charge of JPY

262,000 is required for the second year in order to complete the graduation requirements. Any tuition paid for credits earned in the Pre-MBA Program will be deducted from your total

tuition. If a revision of tuition is made, you will need to follow the change in your payment the following

academic year. In case the consumption tax is raised, we may update the tuition and fees accordingly.

11. Scholarships/Loans

11-1. Scholarships from GLOBIS

GLOBIS Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate the potential to contribute to the

GLOBIS community through strong academic performance and exceptional leadership qualities.

Eligibility: Applicants who expect to study at GLOBIS in 2015.

Scholarship Amount: The scholarship can cover up to 100% of the enrollment and tuition fees.

Note: The scholarship amount does not cover the following fees and expenses: additional tuition for long-term enrollment, non-GLOBIS textbooks, extra-curricular expenses (ex. camp-based elective classes) and living expenses.

The conditions, screening criteria and application process for both scholarships are as follows:

(1) Scholarship Conditions

Should you receive a scholarship, you must adhere to the following conditions:

・Enrollment in GLOBIS University in 2015

・Successful completion of the required credits needed for graduation

・Make continuous efforts to accomplish what is stated in your scholarship essay and contribute

to the program

(2) Cooperation in Marketing Activities

Should you receive a scholarship, you are expected to cooperate with GLOBIS’ marketing

activities, such as providing or participating in interviews, photos, profiles, and stories for

internal and external use. Permission will be requested prior to publishing and, if unable to

cooperate, you can inform the office of the reason and an exception will be considered.

(5) Screening Process

The scholarship screening process includes the essay and the interview conducted as part of the

admission screening. You will need to submit your scholarship application together with your

application for the MBA program. You are eligible to receive the scholarship only if you pass the

GLOBIS admission process. The final decision regarding scholarships will be sent with the

admission notification.

Note: The scholarship interview will be conducted by phone if you reside outside Japan.

11-2. Scholarships from Other Organizations

Several organizations provide scholarships for privately financed international students and/or

Japanese students.

JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) Scholarship:

These scholarships provide stipends for living expenses, extra textbooks, etc. for six months.

You will receive detailed information regarding these scholarships once admitted, approximately

two months prior to the start date of your MBA program.

A) “Pre-arrival”: This scholarship is for international students living outside Japan. Only

students who did not visit GLOBIS in Japan for the admission screening (such as the

interview) before enrollment are eligible for this scholarship.

B) “Post-arrival”: This scholarship is for international students.

MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship

(http://www.mext.go.jp/english/)

A) MEXT Scholarship for University Nominated Students: This prestigious scholarship is

available only for those who applied for our MBA program in the November round. You

will receive detailed information about this scholarship at the beginning of January. The

scholarship mainly covers your living expenses for one year.

B) MEXT Scholarship for Embassy Nominated Students: Please ask for more information at

your local Japanese Embassy. This scholarship can cover both the total tuition and your

living expenses for one year.

Besides the above scholarships, there are additional scholarships available offered by private

institutions. You will receive detailed information regarding these scholarships after starting your

MBA program. Please note that application forms and interviews are mostly in Japanese.

11-3. Education Loans

Financial institutions tied to GLOBIS University offer educational loans (with favorable interest rates).

Please note that you are required to speak and read Japanese in order to understand the contract.

If you need further information, please contact the Admissions Office.

12. Specialized Practice Training and Education Benefits System (Only for applicants working in Japan)

The GLOBIS MBA program has been designated as a Specialized Practice Training and Education

facility by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. This is a new program introduced on October 1,

2014. If you meet certain conditions, you will be able to obtain financial support from the government. To

confirm your eligibility, please contact a HelloWork Office.

(1) Specialized Practice Training and Education Benefits

If you pay or have paid employment insurance in Japan and meet other conditions (e.g., completing the

MBA program within a year), you will receive a refund of 40% of the tuition fees (up to 320,000 JPY). In

addition, if you are employed and paying employment insurance in Japan within one year of graduation,

you will receive a further refund of 20% of the tuition fees (up to 160,000 JPY).

(2) Specialized Practice Training and Education Support

If you are eligible to apply for the above benefits (1) and meet other conditions (e.g., being unemployed

and under the age of 45), you also may be able to apply for the Specialized Practice Training and

Education Support. You will receive about 50% of your most recent base salary for a year (there is an

upper limit).
