Objectives

1. Raise awareness of specific evidence-based, trauma-informed,

and culturally responsive programs and services being

implemented in a rural behavioral health environment;

2. Increase understanding of how a behavioral health agency in a

rural setting is using innovative strategies to promote the

integration of programs and services across health systems;

3. Showcase how a rural behavioral health setting has undergone

an organizational restructuring process to more effectively

respond to integrated health care service delivery models;

and

4. Illustrate how technology and social media can enhance

program services, outreach, education, and advocacy.

Culturally Competent Treatment Project (CCTP)

Service Area: Buena Vista and Sioux Counties

Goals:

Assess the “cultural landscape” and develop appropriate

substance abuse curriculum and services to meet the needs of

our diverse communities.

Build the organizational capacity to provide culturally

competent services to a diverse population.

Create a sustainable, comprehensive, culturally competent

service delivery model that is replicable to other areas.

Improve treatment outcomes by adding trauma-informed and

integrated care services to the culturally competent treatment

program.

Named in honor and memory of three-year-

old Autumn Elgersma of Orange City, Iowa,

who died on October 31, 2013,

two days after being hospitalized

for injuries she received at daycare
