Pluto Astronomy

• Revolution around the Sun: 248.43 years.

• Revolution around the zodiac: 248.43 years.

• Daily mean motion: 00°00ʼ 15”.

• Retrograde cycles: five months annually, 44% of year.

• Retrograde period: 160 days.

• Stationary period: 7 days.

Pluto Astronomy

• In 2006, reclassified by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to be a dwarf planet.

• Largest object in the Kuiper Belt, which exists beyond Neptune’s orbit.

– Kuiper Belt objects are made of rock and ice.

• Tenth-most-massive body observed directly orbiting the Sun.

• Pluto was within Neptune’s orbit Feb 7, 1979 –Feb 11, 1999.

Pluto Astronomy

• Pluto has five known moons: Charon (the largest, with a diameter just over half that of Pluto), Nix, Hydra, Kerberos, and Styx.

• Pluto and Charon are sometimes described as a binary system because the barycenter of their orbits does not lie within either body.

– The IAU has yet to formalize a definition for binary dwarf planets, and Charon is officially classified as a moon of Pluto.

• 248.43 elliptical year cycle: Pluto’s transit is shortest in Scorpio (12 years) and longest in Taurus (32 years).

• Pluto transit averages are as follows:

Pluto Mythology• Pluto, in Greek religion/mythology, is god of the

underworld, son of Kronos and Rhea; also called Hades.

• After the fall of the Titans, Pluto and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon divided the universe, and Pluto was awarded everything underground. There, with Persephone as his queen, he ruled over Hades.

• Not only a god of the dead, he is identified as a god of the earth's fertility. The Romans derived their god of the dead—Orcus, Dis, or Dis Pater—from Pluto.

• The soul expands in consciousness through lifetimes of incarnations.

• Different souls exist at different levels of conscious awareness, known as “evolutionary states” in EA:

1- A desire to separate from That which created it, or the desire to incarnate into a physical body.

– Religions impart “false belief” that souls can somehow “pray” themselves perfect.
