PLYMOUTH HOUSInG GrOUP’S 6TH ANNUAL
A FESTIVE EVENING OF DINNER AND DANCE WITHHALLIE KUPERMAN & THE CENTURY BALLROOM
Welcome to the best party in town!
Plymouth Housing Group’s 6th annual Seattle Dances! gala promises to deliver much more fun—with much more impact—than any of the other ways you could have spent your Saturday.
Sit back and get ready to be wowed by our amazing celebrity dancers. But don’t be fooled by the sparkle; these are eight fierce competitors! Rita Brogan, Mark Busto, Mark Dyce-Ryan, Mick Fleming, Sheila Kohls, Paul Purcell, Elizabeth Roberts, and Chris Siegfried have trained for months with their professional partners from the Century Ballroom.
Why? Because their big smiles reflect even bigger hearts. The energy you witness tonight onstage is the same energy they bring every day to our community.
And that brings us to the evening’s honorees. Kaspar and Nancy Donier bring a deep-seated and abundant generosity to their community service. Their commitment to Plymouth and to end-ing homelessness is remarkable, and we’re the better city for it.
As we toast our dancers and our honorees, let’s celebrate the fact that your support tonight will help Plymouth provide safe, permanent homes to over 1,000 of the most vulnerable men and women in our community.
Warm Regards,
Stewart Landefeld Paul LambrosPresident, Board of Trustees Executive Director
We would like to especially thank our steering committee for their leadership of this year's event.

OuR MissioOPlymouth Housing Group works
to eliminate homelessness and addressits causes by preserving, developing and
operating safe, quality, supportive housing and by providing homeless adults with
opportunities to stabilize andimprove their lives.
OUR VISIOOHousing is just the beginning...the first step to building hope and transforming lives.
We envision a day when every person has a safe home and a better quality of life.
Plymouth is building hope andtransforming lives
Homelessness is a crisis in our community. Plymouth is part of the solution.
In 13 residential buildings last year, Plymouth Housing Group provided permanent housing with intensive support services to 1,169 men and women who had been homeless for many years. Almost two-thirds live with mental illness. Plymouth’s supportive housing offers them a safe and permanent alternative to shelters, jails, and emergency rooms.
For just $14,000, Plymouth provides a person with a permanent home and 24/7 support for a full year. This same amount pays for only six days at Harborview or 80 days in a King County jail.
Plymouth continues to build new homes to meet community need. We’ll break ground on a new 79-unit building at 7th & Cherry late this year. And Sylvia’s Place, currently under construction at 3rd & Virginia, will open in early 2016.
The 63 graduation units at Sylvia’s Place will house tenants whose long-term success with 24/7 support has equipped them for more independent living. When they move, their former units become available to house 63 people transitioning off the streets. Forever.

Evening HonoreesKASPAR & NANCY DONIER
Tonight we are pleased to honor Kaspar and Nancy Donier for their long-time commitment to ending homelessness in our community.
Plymouth’s mission to eliminate homelessness is a cause that’s been close to the hearts of Kaspar and Nancy since they moved to Seattle. When they opened Kaspars Restaurant in Belltown in 1989, they began serving dinner to the people sleeping in their doorway. Since then, giving back has been at the forefront of Kaspar’s business model.
Each December 26, Kaspar, Nancy and their daughters, Wendy and Liza, prepare and serve a feast for our Plymouth residents. This special meal allows our formerly-homeless residents to enjoy a special holiday meal along with the good company of the Donier family. And throughout the year, Kaspars Catering will surprise our residents with delicious community meals.
The Donier’s philanthropic footprint spreads far beyond Plymouth. Over the past 25 years, Kaspar and Nancy have supported over 20 worthy causes. And they are leaders in the Washington Sustainable Food & Farming Network, being one the first local chefs to embrace farm-to-table freshness and promote organic and sustainable accountability. We reap the benefits of that embrace as we dine this evening.
Thank you, Kaspar and Nancy for your passion and dedication to Plymouth Housing Group and to our community.

It has been an honor to partner with the amazing team at The Century Ballroom and owner Hallie Kuperman on the production of Seattle Dances! for six years in a row.
Hallie has been teaching Lindy Hop and Swing dancing since 1991 and Salsa dancing since 1997. She was the co-director for Swing This!, a Lindy Hop performance troupe at The Century Ballroom. She continues to teach, choreograph
and perform whenever possible.
The Century Ballroom, located on Capitol Hill at 10th and Pine St, has one of the largest dance floors in Seattle. Every weekend it’s rocking with dance performances, classes and dinner shows. In addition, the Tin Table Restaurant serves drinks and dinners most nights of the week.
Most of the dancers you see this evening teach regularly at the Century Ballroom in such dance genres as salsa, lindy hop, swing, bachata, tango and many more.
For more information, visit their website at www.centuryballroom.com.
Thank you, Hallie and the entire team at the Century Ballroom for making
Seattle Dances! possible.

WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I am a social entrepreneur and founder of PRR, a national strategic communications and marketing agency devoted to the advancement of people, planet and place.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?Swing dance lessons at Century Ballroom.
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?I support Plymouth Housing Group's mission to provide housing for the chronically homeless, which is aligned with one of my principles that has driven my personal and professional life: social equity.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?It will have a special place on PRR's trophy shelf.
About mark kiharaJoining us for the 6th year in a row, Mark has been enthusiastically dancing Swing since 1998. As an avid social dancer, Mark has traveled and danced Lindy Hop in more than ten countries and was a member of the 2002 1st Place American Lindy Hop Championship team.

WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I am a founding and managing shareholder in Sebris Busto James, a labor and employment law firm in Bellevue. We help companies manage their human resources and represent them when disputes arise.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?Rock and roll in the '70s and swing dancing with my wife as we have "matured."
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?We live in a condo in South Lake Union and witness the tragedy of homelessness. This is my small contribution to the effort to provide stable housing for the poorest among us.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?Alongside my 2006 and 2007 golf trophies that are getting a bit dusty with age.
About lorraine o'nealSorry boys, Lorraine lost her heart to swing dancing back in 1997. Yes, she was inspired by that Gap commercial, and vintage clothing. She has since become a Lindy, Balboa, and Charleston addict, traveling throughout the United States to dance, teach, compete, and pick up a few titles along the way. Lorraine’s dance specialties include embracing the euphoric free spirit of lindy and the
grace of balboa. She hopes to share some of this love with y’all.

CELEBRITY DANCER
MARK DYCE-rYAnMark is Swing Dancing with Casey Schneider
WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I help local, regional, national and global brands connect with their customers and audiences at an agency I co-founded, 206inc.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?I've square danced at the grange hall, two-stepped and line danced at the 'ol Timberline and recently, I thought I'd be cute and break dance as Santa at the
Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Contest - which nearly had me in traction for a week and was the catalyst for my hip replacement.
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?I drive to and from work every day through Pioneer Square and often look at one particular alley and mutter, 'by the grace of god.' Raising money to provide a home to those that are working hard to recover and find purpose is an honor and a priviledge. My home is my sanctu-ary - and to know I have helped one person experience that same feeling is a blessing. And, through dance, I want to bring a lil sexy back.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?I plan to build a customized trailer which will house the trophy, in which I will tour cities throughout the country and sell tickets for people to walk through the trailer to see it, touch it, and take pictures of me with it - with all proceeds benefiting PHG. And if for some reason long lines don't form, I will bring it back and find a special place that will remind me every morning to ask the question, "How can I be helpful today?"
About casey schneiderCasey Schneider is a lindy hop and vintage jazz dancer, teacher, performer, and choreographer.Casey is excited to share her passion for swing dancing with her partner, Mark Dyce-Ryan, and to perform a routine that excites the audience and judges, but most importantly inspires all to make contributions to Plymouth!
WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I am the proud owner, for the past 28 years of one of downtown Seattle's largest Child Care Centers, KidsCentre on Spring Street. In my spare time, I am a partner with the Seattle Law Firm of Ryan Swanson and Cleveland, practicing Real Estate and Finance Law. I am also the proud father of two very wonderful young women and the lucky husband of Dorinda Gier.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?Other than the occasional party or wedding, aided by the consump-tion of appropriate adult beverages, my previous experience was winning the 8th grade mixer competition at Jane Adams Junior High.
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?I have enjoyed watching my good friends John Teutsch, Jane Nelson and Carol Bailey compete quite exceptionally and became very impressed with the work of Plymouth. And, the opportunity to make a spectacle of myself for a great cause was too much to pass up.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?In the unlikely chance of a surprise victory, I would place the trophy in the Ryan Swanson and Cleveland lobby as a challenge to my colleagues to follow the advice of Babe Ruth, "Never let the fear of striking out get in your way."
About erica atnipBeing raised in Texas, Erica was subjected to a steady diet of church, steak and ballet. After decades of wrestling steers in pointe shoes she moved to Washington, where she discovered a new, unlikely passion: Tango. Erica teaches Queer Tango and volunteers teaching girls to lead at community centers and non-profits.

WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I am a Registered Nurse specializing in school heath. I strive to assure a safe and healthy edu-cational environment for students, train school staff on the essential individual needs of students with chronic health conditions, and provide direct nursing care for daily injuries and illnesses...to name a few. I currently serve over 1,000 Seattle Public School elementary students.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?I had a bout with Disco Fever in the 80's, was crowned "Queen of the Big Bamboo Dance" in 1993 in Jamaica and last spring, had a brief flirtation with Belly Dance lessons (it's a lot harder than it looks!).
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?Because I believe in their overwhelmingly successful mission and philosophy that people cannot improve their lives until they have a safe, stable place to live and the safety net approach of providing support services in addition to housing.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?The entry way of my home as a daily reminder to keep on dancing because: "Life may not be the party we hoped for...but while we're here we may as well dance."
About Michael CahnMichael grew up in Santa Fe listening to the Latin rhythms of his father’s flamenco troupe. During Spanish language studies in Peru, he discovered salsa dance. He took home a mirrorball trophy in 2014 with Carol Bailey Medwell. Michael teaches at his studio, Sueños de Salsa in Fremont and has won many Jack and Jill contests in Seattle.

WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I have a small company, Beacon Development Group. We consult with public housing authorities and non-profits to develop affordable housing throughout WA State. We work as developers and advocates for low income households and for the organizations which serve them. We are driven by the fundamental belief that affordable housing is fundamental to a healthy community.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?Doing the "Gator" in high school and taking Swing II lessons three different times with my wife.
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?Plymouth does a great job of serving homeless communities in Seattle. The money raised here provides the critical dollars necessary for them to continue their good work. Service dollars are difficult to come by and I welcome any chance to assist Plymouth in raising those funds.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?I'll put it in the conference room at my office as a conversation starter piece about how flexible we are as a company and the many moves we have to work with clients as partners in solving the riddles of developing affordable housing.
About deron hayes-hirschyDeron was introduced to social dance while living in Germany. After moving back to the U.S., she rediscovered her love for dance and hasn’t looked back. Deron is an integral member of the Century Ballroom team. She teaches and performs Salsa and West Coast Swing, and has entered multiple national competitions.

PAUL PURCELL
WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I am the founder and creative director of Elizabeth Roberts, a women's clothing line that addresses our tech-enhanced mobile lifestyles with high functioning fabrics and simply chic silhouettes.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?In college, I squeezed in a few dance classes and in Elementary School, I took ballet lessons.
However, growing up on Long Island, the most impactful experi-ence was probably sneaking off to the city on Friday nights with High School friends to go dancing at Studio 54 - it was magical!
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?The mission of Plymouth is tantamount to enabling change. Without a sustained place to sink roots, how can one move forward and grow? I believe in the Plymouth philosophy and wanted to help. Besides, Patti Payne asked and that means a lot!
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?Above the kitchen table to distract my teenagers from my cooking!
About jonathan wingard-phillipsJonathan was all but convinced that he had two left feet and no sense of rhythm until he started experimenting with Ballroom Dancing in 2005. He immediately fell in love with partner dancing, but Bachata is his new love. It gives him the op-portunity to express himself and be creative with amazing music.
CELEBRITY DANCER
Elizabeth is dancing the Bachata with Jonathan Wingard-Phillips
ELIZABETH ROBERTS
WHAT IS YOUR DAY JOB?I educate people on various financing options for residential mortgages at HomeStreet Bank.
WHAT IS YOUR PREVIOUS DANCE EXPERIENCE?Aside from six weddings I attended in 2014 and casually danced at, my dance skills are next to terrible.
WHY ARE YOU DANCING FOR PLYMOUTH HOUSING GROUP?I am dancing for Plymouth because I believe in their cause and want to support them any way I can. Raising money through dancing is just one small way to help and I believe that this event is a great way to bring awareness to a great cause. Sometimes we don't take the time to appreciate what we have around us in that of a home and when I heard Plymouth helps to get homeless people back on their feet, it immediately sparked my interest.
WHERE WILL YOU PUT YOUR MIRROR BALL TROPHY WHEN YOU WIN?I am going to put it on the roof of my car! That way everyone will know that I actually do have moves!
