The Center for Reading Recovery and Literacy Collaborative at Lesley University is offering ten online graduate level courses for teachers and literacy coaches who are interested in growing and transforming their teaching and learning. Each three-credit course can be taken separately, or combined to give educators a Graduate Certificate in Language and Literacy Expertise (18 credits).

The courses are grounded in the work of Marie Clay, Irene Fountas, and Gay Su Pinnell, as well as other educational leaders, and centered on the idea that creating classrooms where students are actively engaged in thinking, talking, reading, and writing gives them the opportunity to develop and grow as readers and writers. Participants will use close observation and assessment of student behaviors to inform their instructional planning and decision-making.

Educators who are interested in adding to their professional credentials can elect to enroll in the Graduate Certificate in Language and Literacy Expertise: six courses that will support their work in assessment, instruction within the readers’ and writers’ workshops, close study of phonics, vocabulary, and word study, and guided reading in grades K-2 or 3-8.
