SYBYL Award
The following qualities help describe Sybyl Atwood.
We encourage you to consider these qualities when completing your
honored nominee’s application.
Leave the world a better place than you found it.
Sybyl was a dynamic, inclusive leader. Somehow you could not muster the word “No” in her presence. Her smile and encouragement made you feel that you could conquer any mountain. Quitting was not an option for Sybyl—and when you were with her, you felt the same way.
Just do it.
Sybyl would snap green beans while volunteering her time at her neighborhood members meeting. She would also be a contributing part of the conversation, would have prepared a light dish for nibbling, and add stimulating thoughts to any brainstorm session.
Every voice is important, no matter how big or how small.
Sybyl included YOU always. Sybyl had the ability to find the good in everyone – even those individuals that others had discarded. She had the uncanny ability to relate to any and every one
Challenges and Barriers.
Challenges and barriers did not hold Sybyl back. As she might say "There is more than one way to skin a rabbit—what’s yours?”
“Remain insatiably curious.” –Sybyl Atwood
This was Sybyl’s life philosophy and her response to the question of "What is the secret of life?”
