ANNUAL REPORT

PASSPORTM AT T E R S

2015

With Christ as our foundation, Passport empowers students to encounter Christ, embrace community and extend grace to the world.

P A S S P O R T MATTERS

Passport matters to the 5,600 students who attended one of our camps this summer, to the 300 churches who brought them, and to the 64 college and seminary staffers who ministered among them. We matter to the 75 ministry sites that received our campers this summer and the three ministries who received our mission offering.

Passport matters to the present and future of the church – as we help nurture an active faith in the students we serve. In the pages of this report, you will see how we are teaching things that matter like community, Christian service, thoughtful theology, and student leadership. And we will introduce you to our capital campaign, PASSPORT MATTERS. But first, meet Alfarouk Majid, Passport’s 100,000th camper. Learn about his amazing story on our website: passportcamps.org.

And you will learn more about our capital campaign, PASSPORT MATTERS.

This week made me feel like Jesus is someone who will be there for you. Even though it's a big world, he is everywhere.-Alfarouk Majid

Meet Samuel Lian who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Burma. He was a Passport camper and has now served on the summer staff for 2 years!

Caring for Community has been a theme of Passport since our first summer in 1993. Our goal is for meaningful engagement where our campers receive as well as give, learn as well as teach.

In Atlanta, our students invested over 8,000 hours reading one-on-one with children. In Birmingham, Jacksonville, and Danville, our students invested 10,000 hours rehabilitating homes.

Mission Volunteer Hours• Service Hours: 34,000• Learning Hours: 6,200• Offering: $46,111

I spoke Burmese to the refugee group and they were stunned, and then surrounded me to ask questions. I experienced the presence of Christ and it was as if we have known each other for years.-Samuel Lian

T H E O L O G Y MATTERS

Passport speaks with a specific theological voice that is Christ-centered, helping our students engage their faith with their hearts and minds. We speak with a voice similar to the theology taught and preached in our participating churches. Our voice speaks of neighborly welcome, respect and under-standing of other faiths, and of God’s call on all people.

Passport also produces a daily online devotion for youth and young adults – d365.org. This year our readers spent 34,000 hours in prayer and reflection on the site. d365.org is sponsored by grants from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, The Episcopal Church, The Presbyterian Church (USA), and donor gifts.

Discipleship Hours at Camp: 30,000 Annual visits to d365.org: 2,080,000

Addison can't stop talking about all she did at Passport. As she continues to grow in her faith, Passport helps her define what her journey will look like in the years to come.-Kelly Meeks, Addison's mom from Auburn FBC.

Passport trains college and graduate students to lead in every facet of camp, like Summer Hyche, a former camper now serving as a Passport staffer. See Summer’s story on our website: passportcamps.org. Our work to develop strong leaders is an investment in their future. All leadership positions, including pastor, are open to women and men.

Since 1993 Passport has trained over 600 young adults from the United States and around the globe. This past summer we hired 64 students from 15 states and 3 countries. 11 of those are currently attending seminary.

I can still see the faces of young pastors who made me believe I, too, could one day be in ministry.-Summer Hyche

Vicky Nguyen loves Passport. She comes every year with Luther Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Silver Springs, MD. Our goal is to continue our ministry for years to come – so students can be part of our life-changing camps.

Passport is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry, receiving no operational support from any denominational group. Registration income covers about 75% of expenses, which means we rely on grants and donations to cover our costs. This underwriting keeps camp affordable for shrinking congregations and economically diverse students. To support us, use the enclosed envelope or give online at passportcamps.org.

For Passport to continue empowering the next generations of students, and we need your financial support. We have launched the PASSPORT MATTERS capital campaign with a goal to raise $1.5 million, and as of Septem-ber 30, 2015 we have pledges that total over $974,000! But we need your support to get to our goal. The campaign funds will be used for:

• A scholarship fund to provide a way for all who want to attend. • Leadership training to allow Passport to continue to empower young leaders called to excellence in ministry. • Capital improvements which will allow us to remain relevant and engaging, by upgrading technology, equipment, and supplies. • Secure a solid financial foundation for Passport’s future.

Please consider joining our campaign by mak-ing a donation with a check using the postage paid envelope, with a credit card online, or by texting your pledge to 1-800-PASSPORT!

There is no more practical way to invest in the future of compassionate christian leaders than to give to Passport.-Jackie Baugh Moore

Thank you!

The ministries of Passport, Inc. would not be possible without the support of so many people: Adult chaperones who give a week of vacation to hang out with the students from their church, summer staffers who work long hours and get up early every day, the group leaders – most of them Children and Youth ministers who bring groups every summer, and those who make a donation to support our work.
