Any member interested in sponsoring our upcoming $2500 Men’s Open (Saturday, April 18th - Sunday, April 19th and Saturday, April 25th - Sunday, April 26th) and our NTRP Doubles Challenge (Friday, May 15th - Sunday, May 17th) may hang their company banner and/or opt to have their logo placed on as many as 350 tournament shirts. The cost for displaying the banner on court 2 is $275 for four months of exposure t-shirt advertising are $100 for each tournament. SAP OPEN PRO’S NIGHT OUTThe High Performance clinics at LGSRC are open to junior players 10-18 years of age, who are currently competing in USTA Junior tournaments. Clinics will be structured around footwork and proper preparation and recovery through challenging drills, both racquet and hand fed. Emphasis will also be placed on tactics and executing strategies through live ball play. Packages of 10 and 20 classes can be purchased for a 10% and 15% discount, respectively, or players can drop in at their convenience.

Players have the opportunity to supplement the high performance clinic with up to two conditioning sessions each week. Sessions will focus on strengthening injury prone muscles and enhancing movements through resistance band training, body-weight exercises, plyometrics, medicine ball exercises, and agility ladder drills. This monthly social event allows for a less competitive environment to enjoy tennis with other club members. All matches in this round robin are game paired by our tennis pros and the evening is topped off with dinner and beverages. Wine Down is held on the last Friday of every month and sign-ups are taken in the Pro Shop!

Three-Kick / One-Pull

Extend the arms out in front in streamline position and take three full kicks. After the third kick, take one strong pull in time with the kicking. Recover the arms to the streamline position and repeat.

Three-Stroke Switch Drill

This freestyle, backstroke, or butterfly drill helps with balance, and in the case of freestyle, bilateral breathing. Concentrate on a steady, strong kick as you do this drill•Extend the left arm straight out in front of you and hold it there. Take three strokes with the right arm. •Roll your hips, then extend the right arm straight out and take three strokes with the left arm.

Stand in front of a wall at arm’s length. Reach forward from your shoulders and plant your palms on the wall, fingers wide, middle fingers pointing straight at the ceiling.

Firm your fingers into the wall and draw your navel back as you lengthen the tailbone towards the floor. Lift your ribs from the pelvis. You want to work with a natural lower back curve but an active belly.

Keep length in your spine as you begin to walk the legs back, folding at the waist, and walking your hands down the wall. Eventually you’ll come to an L-shape. If you can’t get there today without feeling pain or rounding in the lower back, bend your knees and maintain the proper spinal alignment.As you lift the navel and lower ribs into the body, reach long through the tailbone and legs into the floor while reaching the spine, arms and head towards the wall.

Repeat for 10-20 breaths, then fold into Fists Forward Fold once again. Move to the next pose after a few breaths.If done properly, this tried-and true asana can be excellent for spinal traction and back health.

KIDS’ CLUB YOGA

We are excited to bring back Kids’ Night Out in January 2015!

Kids’ Night Out brings together kids ages 2 to 7 years old for a night of socializing and fun filled activities - from crafting and playing games, to a wind down movie time, kids have blast!

Kids’ Night Out is held the last Friday of each month and has a different theme each month. This month’s theme is Fantasy!

This fantastic program gives children a chance to play games, make crafts, watch a movie, and more. This month’s movie is How to Train Your Dragon 2! A pizza dinner is included (or children may bring their own dinner). Parents can drop children off and enjoy their own night out! Sign up for this fun program at the Front Desk today!
