WELCOME TO CLAYTON STATE UNIVERSITY!

We are delighted to have your institution join us here on campus and in Morrow, Ga. This city is home to the archives for both the State of Georgia and the Southeast Region, as well as world-renowned Spivey Hall. It is truly our pleasure to welcome you to our home.

Clayton State University was established in 1969 and began competing in intercollegiate athletics in 1990-91. We are a proud member of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and we sponsor 12 NCAA Division II sports (men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and fi eld).

This guide will provide you with some basic information that may be helpful to you during your visit to Clayton State University. Please pay close attention to the list of hotels and restaurants as those companies have shown great support to the Lakers and we would love for you to consider doing business with them while in Morrow.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your time in our city, please do not hesitate to contact me directly or one of our staff members listed within this guide. We expect fi erce competition and look forward to all student-athletes leaving Clayton State as healthy as they arrived.

Dear Visiting Athletic Trainer:

Welcome to Clayton State University. Our staff looks forward to your visit and will assist you and your team in any way that we can. In order to facilitate your trip, we are supplying the following information. If you have any questions or require special arrangements, please feel free to contact the sports medicine department directly:

The Sports Medicine Department, which is located in the Athletics Center, will open two (2) hours prior to all home competitions and will remain open for at least 30 minutes after the contest’s conclu-sion. A certifi ed athletic trainer will be onsite for the entirety of the competition with a medical doctor or physician assistant available onsite or on-call.

The following items will be available to visiting teams:

• Injury ice, ice bags and wrap• Heat packs• Hot/cold whirlpool• Electrical modalities (electrical stimulation and ultrasound)• Water and cups• AED, vacuum splints, crutches

Teams traveling without a certifi ed athletic trainer are asked to provide a fully stocked medical kit for all taping and fi rst aid needs. Also, an email from the team’s certifi ed athletic trainer or team physician must be sent to the Clayton State University Sports Medicine Department in advance with detailed treatment guidelines for use of any electrical modality.

If an emergency arises and EMS is needed the Clayton State certifi ed athletic trainer will activate the venue specifi c Emergency Action Plan. Area hospitals include:

• Southern Regional Medical Center – 11 Upper Riverdale Rd, Riverdale, Ga. 30274 (5 mi.)• Piedmont Henry Hospital – 1133 Eagles Landing Pkwy, Stockbridge, Ga. 30281 (11 mi.)• Piedmont Atlanta Hospital – 1968 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, Ga. 30309 (21 mi.)

Weather conditions will be monitored for all outdoor events by the certifi ed athletic trainer using the Telvent DTN Weather Monitoring App. In the event of possible lightening, the certifi ed athletic trainer will utilize the Clayton State University Athletics Department Lightening Policy and relay conditions to the appropriate game offi cials and administrator(s) for venue evacuation and competition postpone-ment.
