The Worker Center facilitated jobs for 600

workers with over 1,100 employers

The Neighbors Link mission is to strengthen the whole community through

the healthy integration of immigrants.

English as a Second Language classes support full integration for immigrants in our community.The Family Center provides support for parents raising bilingual, bicultural children to succeed in school and life. The Worker Center facilitates connections to employment, advocacy for fair wages and job skills training to help people move toward economic stability.

Neighbors Link Community Law Practice is staffed by two immigration attorneys and provides immigration-related legal assistance, including applying for citizenship.Individual and Family Support Services are provided for issues related to housing, medical conditions, employment, accidents, and a myriad of family issues through an extensive network of well-established partnerships.Cultural Competency programs provide training to encourage meaningful dialogue about immigration issues for health care workers, social service providers, faith-based groups, educators and law enforcement.

“Trust building” was the shared objective as local police and Neighbors Link families participated in a

ground breaking six-week program.

In partnership with the North American Family Institute and the Westchester County Public Safety Department, the Families & Police Initiative was designed to break

down stereotypes to create a “new” picture of police and community relations, using exercises and activities to open

lines of communication. By sharing their preconceived notions and personal stories, participants explored common

ground and built mutual respect.

To serve the growing legal needs of our client community, Neighbors Link merged Pace Community Law Practice (PCLP) into our organization to form a legal department now known

as Neighbors Link Community Law Practice.

We are pleased to welcome lead attorneys Karin Anderson Ponzer, Esq., and Elizabeth Mastropolo,

Esq., to the Neighbors Link staff.

Neighbors Link Community Law Practice assists clients on a variety of immigration matters including family based

petitions, visas, asylum, renewal of Legal Permanent Resident Cards, and applications for U.S. naturalization

and deferred action.

When Bedford Central School District (BCSD) budget cuts eliminated the school-based Pre-K program, we saw an urgent need among Neighbors Link families. Research shows that children who attend Pre-K programs have much stronger social, academic and emotional preparation for school. This is especially critical for children who are already overcoming obstacles such as learning a new language.

To meet this need, we launched a new program for parents and their pre-school age children. Once a week, parents and their preschoolers come to Neighbors Link to participate in this program that focuses on providing developmentally appropriate activities for children while helping parents learn what to expect when their children start school.

Our Latin Links Luncheon, Spring Gala and other events are planned by the Friends of Neighbors Link, an extraordinary group of dedicated volunteers whose hard work helps to make the programs at Neighbors Link possible.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2016

Neighbors Link has provided “Know Your Rights” trainings to educate immigrant residents on their rights when interacting with law enforcement, immigration agents or if questioned about their immigration status. Hundreds of clients and staff from community-based organizations have already participated in our “Know Your Rights” workshops, and we expect to reach well over 2,000 people with these trainings in 2017.

It was a proud moment for Neighbors Link as we received a top honor at the 10th annual Nonprofit Excellence Awards in December. The silver prize was awarded to Neighbors Link by the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York (NPCC), which recognizes exceptional management practices of nonprofits in New York City, Long Island and Westchester.

In 2016 we saw a 200% increase in students completing ESL classes at Neighbors Link. Along with our partner, Westchester Community College, we implemented new program components to make this increase possible.

Neighbors Link is expanding! The work of Neighbors Link has become more critical than ever. To meet the growing demand, we have significantly expanded our geographical reach. Neighbors Link now operates programming in Yonkers, Ossining, Mount Vernon, Mount Kisco and White Plains.

The Worker Center presented more than 60 educational workshops on job skills, health and safety in the workplace, wage theft, workers’ rights, and police/immigrant relations.
