RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. This Futurity is open only to Quarter Horses registered with the AQHA and sired by stallions listed on back. ALL OWNERS MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IQHA RACING DIVISION.

2. All races will be conducted under the rules of the Idaho State Racing Commission and the AQHA. 3. Trials will be run over one (1) day taking the ten (10) fastest qualifiers from each day for the finals. 4. Each trial shall consist of not more than ten (10) horses. The trials shall be raced under the same conditions as

the finals. No more than then (10) horses shall be selected from the trials to participate in the finals. 5% of the Bitterroot Futurity Purse will be deducted for the Bitterroot Juvenile Stakes. See attached 5. The decision of the Stewards and or the Idaho State Racing Commission shall be final in all matters. All fees and payments are accepted only on the condition that all persons nominating or starting a horse in this event agree to abide by the decision of the Stewards and/or the Idaho State Racing Commission. 6. Entries in the trials owned by the same owner or trained by the same trainer will be split if possible. 7. Should a horse be disqualified in the trials, he shall be given the time of the horse he is placed behind plus .001 seconds. 8. In the event of a timer malfunction, the stewards will revert to hand times in that trail only to determine qualifi-ers. 9. Should the front gates fail to open in front of a horse during the running of the trials or stakes, the horse shall be declared a nonstarter and no liability will be incurred beyond the return of all payments that have been paid in on such horse. 11. Purse distribution for the Futurity shall pay (10) monies as follows: 40%, 20%, 10%, 8%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 3%, 2%, 2%. 12. IQHA and/or Sponsoring track reserve the right to cancel or postpone these Stakes races for any reason it deems good and sufficient. IQHA agrees to return, to the horsemen, all nominating and/or sustaining fees that have been paid in, less 10% for administrative expense. 13. Nominator of the winner to receive $500.00. The breeder is the owner or lessee of the mare at the time of service. Breeder of winner to receive $500.00. The owner of the sire of the winner to receive $1500.00. 14. The signature represents that he/or she is familiar with the rules and regulations governing Quarter Horse Racing by the Idaho State Racing Commission, IQHA and the sponsoring track and such persons agree to comply with the decision of the Board of Stewards and/or the Idaho State Racing Commission. 15. 10% will be deducted to defray expenses out of nominating and sustaining fees. 16. Nominating and sustaining payments are to be made through the U.S. Mail or by credit card and must be post marked on or before the payment deadline. 17. 10% will be deducted for the (2017) Bitterroot Derby. 18. Horses which meet either of the following criteria are eligible for the (2016) Bitterroot Derby: A) Horses that were eligible to start or started in the (2015) Bitterroot Futurity trials. B) Horses which were paid in full through the January payment of the (2016) Bitterroot Futurity may become eligible by payment of Bitterroot Derby nomination fee plus a supplemental fee of $500.00 at time of nomination. 19. Any breeding that was purchased at the Bitterroot Stallion Service Auction that does not result in a live foal and mare is returned for a re-breed to the same stallion. That resulting offspring will be eligible for the following year’s Bitterroot Futurity regardless of whether the stallion is eligible or not, but they will lose their “Free Berth” and subject “Free Berth” cannot be sold or transferred. 20. All “Free Berths” must be named by December 1st of their yearling year to be eligible to run. If colt is not named by December 1st of his yearling year, you forfeit your “Free Berth.” NO EXCEPTIONS!
