Overage Midget Player (Bad Birthday) Policy
In 2013, Hockey Nova Scotia adopted the Overage Midget Player Policy.
The goal was to allow players with “bad birthdays” an opportunity to continue their minor hockey careers.
Female Council found that the policy did not work in Female Hockey as it was intended.
Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council will be eliminating this policy.
We are hoping to have an alternative: Female Junior Hockey

New Female Hockey Tournament Policy
Female Council is implementing a new tournament policy in an effort to help reduce costs to players and to facilitate league play.
All Female member teams, excluding NSFMHL teams, will be restricted to three (3) sanctioned tournaments. League and Provincial tournaments are excluded.
Teams must identify their chosen tournaments by November 30th to the HNSFC Regional Director. In the event of tournament cancellation, the team can contact the HNSFC Regional Director to schedule an alternate tournament.
Teams are reminded that league play takes precedent over tournaments.
Summary of Executive Committee Structure
Last season, six (6) executive committees were set up in each of the six (6) new Female Hockey Zones across the province.
The zones were responsible for the administration of the female game and were instrumental in getting the coaches, players and teams on the ice last fall.
