2016 Important Information Please Read Carefully! All wind players must provide their own instrument, mouthpiece, reeds, etc. Percussionists should ONLY bring sticks and mallets (identifiably marked)—NO instruments. All percussion instruments will be provided by MU. Have extra reeds, valve\slide oil, mutes, sticks, and mallets on hand! The MU School of Music does not sell supplies. Upon arriving to campus, you will receive the MU Junior Honors Band T-shirt. This T-shirt, along with your own black dress pants, black socks, and black dress shoes, will be the attire for all participants in the Monday evening concert. Don’t forget to pack these important items! Your audition on Sunday will consist of (1) selected major scales (up to three flats and three sharps) and (2) a sight-reading excerpt. Each of these materials will be chosen by the MU faculty member administrating the audition. All meals will be provided. However, you may bring some extra cash for snacks. Dress for the weather! You will be walking between buildings for rehearsals, masterclasses, and meals. Check the local weather before departing for Mizzou and be sure you have appropriate clothing (e.g., shoes, coats, hats). If bringing a car to campus, you must provide information on the Student Registration Form. You must leave your car on campus overnight. Our music students will transport you from the rehearsals to their dorms (Sunday evening) and back to rehearsal (Monday morning). Those choosing to stay with MU Music Students should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, shower shoes, toiletries, etc. You will be showering in the dormitory, so plan accordingly. If you choose not to stay on campus with MU Music Students, you are responsible for securing and funding your own lodging—this includes transportation to and from campus for all rehearsals and the concert. A block of rooms has been held at the La Quinta Inn & Suites (2500 I-70 Drive SW, Columbia, MO) at the rate of $70/night for this event. If you would like to book a room in this block, please contact the hotel at 573-445-1899 January 29 th . Please identify yourself as a member of the MU Junior Honors Band, group booking code GRFSKP. In case of inclement weather, notification of any schedule changes will be sent via the email address listed on the enclosed registration form. Updates will also be posted at mubands.missouri.edu. Friends, family and band directors are welcome to attend the final concert. For those unable to attend, the concert will be available via online live audio streaming at http://music.missouri.edu/concert_streaming.
