areductioninattendancetogrouppsychologyandpsychotherapy.Wecouldtranslateoursciencetopracticebettersothereisanawarenessoftheimportanceofgroups.Forexample,wehavesufficientresearchsupportinggrouptreatment,butitisnotwidelydisseminated.

• CRSPPiscriticalbecauseifwecangetPsychologytodesignategroupasaspecialty,ithelpsgroupgainmomentumagain.Thiscanthensupportinsurancecompany’ssupportofreimbursementforgrouptreatment.

• Giventhelimitedgrouptrainingopportunitiesavailable,therearefewerpeopletrainedinhowtodogroup.Inaddition,manystudentsarenotgiventrainingopportunitiesandaskedtoleadgroupsatpracticumandjobsites.Consequently,groupcanbeviewedasalesseffectivetreatmentbyothers.Formanysites,thegroupsmayevenbeledbybachelor’slevelclinicians.

• Idea:Bringmoreresearchtopracticeandprovidegrouptraining(e.gbycreatingonlinetrainingopportunities)

3.Appropriatenessofmeasures(psychometricquality,relevance;ratedfrom“inappropriate”to“appropriate”).Successfulapplicationswilluseinstrumentsthatmeasuretheconstructsinquestionandwillincludeinformationonthereliabilityandvalidityofthemeasuresforthetargetpopulation.4.Appropriatenessofstatisticalapproach(relevantanalyses,powerconsiderations,etc.;ratedfrom“inappropriate”to“appropriate”).Successfulapplicationswillincludeacompleteandappropriateanalyticplan.Theprojectsummariesshouldbedetailedenoughtoallowreviewerstoaccuratelyrateeachofthesefourcategories.TenPagelimitexcludingreferences,tablesandfiguresConditionsGoverningtheAward:Submittingafinalreportnolaterthanthreemonthsaftercompletionoftheproject;Shouldfundingoftheprojectbeapproved,acknowledgmentoftheSociety’ssupportistobeincludedinallpublicationsderivedfromtheaward.Additionally,grantrecipientsareencouragedtosubmitreportstoGroupDynamics:Theory,ResearchandPracticeforconsiderationofpublication.
