FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK
Dear Readers,
Through the countless untold efforts of many, it brings great joy for
all of us at The Ashok Leyland School, Hosur to release ‗ALS Diary
2015– 2016‟. We have almost reached the fag end of this academic
year. Though the horizon looms over us casting its shadow, the hope
of a new day yet to begin brings us new hope, love and joy. There
are many untold stories, unceasing efforts, many victorious mo-
ments and much more that has to be captured that have left a lasting
impression amongst us and we all bear witness to the same. But
merely keeping the same in our hearts won‘t bear testimony of the
deeds that our school has accomplished.
Thus, in this issue we have tried to collate all the events, activities,
and to put the same into words thus showcasing to the world what
we have been up to because if we remain silent the hard efforts put
in by many would just linger in our memories and not be public. We
also would like to appreciate all the hard work put in by all the
members of the magazine committee, which is highly laudable.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
A picture
is worth a thousand
words. When the picture
is a photograph, a sense of
reality is achieved in that
the colours, size, and de-
tails or the composition
are real. Photography may
be a more effective and
reasonably inexpensive
alternative to drawing or
painting, but its indeed an
art that has a wide ocean
of opportunities.To en-
hance the skills of our stu-
dents , Cannon Pvt.Ltd, Bangalore conducted a workshop on photog-
raphy for the high school students aiming to develop the art of clicking
photos from 17th Nov to 24th Nov, 2015 in the school premises.

WORKSHOP ON GENDER SENSITIVITY
Gender sensitivity is the act of being aware of the ways people think about gen-
der, so that individuals rely less on assumptions about traditional and outdated
views on the roles of men and women. Gender sensitizing "is about changing
behaviour and instilling empathy into the views that we hold about our own and
the other gender."It helps people in "examining their personal attitudes and be-
liefs and questioning the 'realities' they thought they know.‖ Thus a Workshop
on Gender Sensitivity was conducted to our students of class IX by Mr Sanketh,
an Intern in the Department of Education, Azim Premji University between
8.09.2015 and 11.09.2015.
A Workshop on Parent and Child Relationship
Parents and their children hold a special relationship with each other. The rela-
tionship between parents and their children has a great effect on the child's
life. The philosophy of parent-
ing determines children's devel-
opment and the parent-child
relationship. The use of this
program forms a strong emo-
tional bond fora parent - child
relationship. A workshop on
Parent and Child Relationship
was conducted by our school
Psychologist Dr Babu Rangara-
jan for the parents of classes XI and XII. It was facilitated by Mr Balachandran
of JAG.

For the overall development of a child, curriculum is not only the single criteria. The holistic growth as
well as to develop the various facets of personality development of children, classroom teaching should
be supplemented by co-curricular activities. These out of class activities affect all domains of life , such
as cognitive (intellectual), emotional, social, moral, cultural and aesthetic.
Co-curricular activities meaning are more focused upon cognitive aspects thereby help in intellectual
development. Co-curricular activities not only make the students active and energetic, but also unable to
harness the in-depth potential of students. It enhances knowledge in many domains, which benefits the
student as well as the school.
