2016 Annual Report NC NURSES PAC The North Carolina Nurses Association’s legislative advocacy efforts work to engage policymakers from across our state in order to improve access to quality care for patients and to advance the nursing profession. By collaborating with those who impact policies in North Carolina, we can positively affect our profession, communities and patients we serve. The nurse-driven NC Nurses PAC is the association’s primary tool for providing political support for legislators and candidates who share our vision on issues important to Registered Nurses in North Carolina. The NC Nurses PAC is non-partisan. Contributing to policymakers from both political parties and gives Registered Nurses a voice in the political process that decides rules and regulations that determine how Registered Nurses practice are decided. The NC Nurses PAC supports candidates for the NC General Assembly by collecting voluntary contributions from NCNA members and other nursing advocates. 2016 was a record year for the NC Nurses PAC with total receipts growing by 211% from 2015. During the 2016 Election Cycle, the NC Nurses PAC contributed to 15 candidates and five political party committees. This annual report details the activity of the NC Nurses PAC in 2016. ImPACting Policy:Moving Nursing Forward!

During the 2016 Election Cycle, the NC Nurses PAC contributed $23,950 dollars to 15 candidates and five political party committees. Of the 15 candidates receiving support from the NC Nurses PAC, 13 will serve in the 2017-18 North Carolina General Assembly including NCNA members Rep. Gale Adcock (D- Wake), Rep. Carla Cunningham (D- Mecklenburg) and Rep. Donna White (R- Johnston).

• The NC Nurses PAC Contributed $17,350 to individual candidates in the 2016 Election Cycle.

• $6,600 dollars were contributed by the NC Nurses PAC to committees representing both the Republican and Democratic Parties.

• The $23,950 contributed to candidates and political party committees represented a 103% increase in contributions to candidates/party committees by the PAC when compared to the 2014 Election Cycle.
