Wines in the Brancott Estate range are considered the benchmark of New Zealand varietal winemaking and have an international reputation for quality and consistency. Each wine is crafted in a style that epitomises the unique character and flavor of the growing region.

AROMA AND PALATEPale straw in color with green highlights, this Sauvignon Blanc presents a beautiful ripe fruit character reminiscent of citrus blossom and tropical fruit with crisp nettle highlights. Almost pungent in its intensity, it displays a spectrum of full fruit flavors from ripe tropical fruit to lush pink grapefruit. A well-balanced wine with the palate weight, sweet fruit flavors and the crisp acidity usually associated with this style.

WINEMAKING DETAILSOnce harvested, the grapes for this wine were crushed and gently bag pressed to produce a fresh, clear and elegant juice, which was then settled and clarified for fermentation.

It was fermented slowly at cool temperatures to retain the very distinctive regional and varietal characters, before being evaluated, blended and bottled.

ENJOY WITHGrilled oysters, barbecued prawns or salmon, and poached white fish with fresh green salads containing parsley, pepper or lemon. Mediterranean and Turkish dishes with hummus, olives and feta will also match well.

VINIFICATIONChardonnay fruit was fed directly to membrane presses where the juice was quickly but gently separated from the skins and seeds. Prior to inoculation with yeast, the juice was cold settled for two days, then racked off solids.

Cool 14-20 day fermentations in stainless steel tanks enhanced the floral and bright fruit characters.

After fermentation, most lots aged on light lees to build structure and enhance mouth feel. A small portion underwent malolactic conversion to soften the final blend. Light fining and filtration just prior to bottling ensures freshness.

TASTING NOTESFermented only in stainless steel, the Grand Estates Unoaked Chardonnay is a light-bodied wine that reveals a pure expression of the varietal. The wine opens with aromas of lemon seed, green mangos and orange blossoms. On the palate, layers of citrus fruit flavors combine with lively acidity, creating a refreshing style of Chardonnay.

Mineral notes lead way to jasmine and passion fruit.Flavors: A clean, crisp opening gives way to a full, round body on the palate. Flavors of orange blossom, grapefruit, honeysuckle, and subtle guava add complexity with a rich and vibrant finish and a hint of minerality.

WINEMAKER’S NOTESOur Equilibrium white blend is a rich, fun, and unique wine that’s easy to enjoy. The name Equilibrium means “to come together in a state of harmonious balance.” With this in mind, our winemakers crafted a unique expression of artisanal blending. Crisp mouthfeel showing bright floral notes along with refreshing pear and white peach flavors, Equilibrium is an ensemble of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Muscat. The perception of sweetness enables it to pair well with a range of foods, from spicy barbeque to Thai and other Asian cuisines.

GROWING SEASONThe 2013 vintage gave us near perfect growing conditions which led to an early harvest with the first Estate Sauvignon Blanc grapes arriving at the winery on August 5, 12 days ahead of 2012, and 25 days ahead of 2011. Spring conditions were warm and dry which led to an early bud break and very even set. Aside from one hot spell at the end of June, temperatures remained moderate throughout the spring and summer. With only eight inches of rain from January through June, the vines had less green growth and an earlier turn to fruit development. As harvest progressed, Chardonnay became ripe with the first grapes arriving on August 29 and continuing through September 23.

Since 1980 the Hahn family has cultivated their hillside vineyards in Monterey County. Today, Hahn Winery remains committed to crafting rich, supple wines which consistently over deliver on quality.

WINEMAKING NOTESThe grapes for this wine were grown in the Arroyo Seco appellation of Monterey County, which sits on a gravelly alluvial plain beneath the Santa Lucia mountain range. Cool winds from Monterey Bay ensure gradual ripening and development of vibrant flavors. The rocky soils allow excellent drainage, enhancing intensity and promoting balanced ripeness and acidity.

TASTING NOTESThis wine’s bouquet charms with scents of red cherry, ripe strawberry, cola and spice. On the palate soft mouthfeel complements flavors recalling plums and black cherry. Supple tannins and a dash of acidity end in a beautifully balanced, clean finish.

WINE ATTITUDESmooth talking is something we do rather well here at Ménage à Trois — especially when it comes to wine. So indulge us for a moment, and close your eyes. Now imagine the exquisitely soft, smooth sensation of silk as it slides across your skin. Gives you chills, doesn’t it? With this in mind, we wanted to create a wine that was seductive and soft, a wine with a texture so lustrous and smooth, it could only be called—what else?—Silk. Brimming with alluring aromas, full-bodied, bright red fruit flavors, and a marvelously smooth mouthfeel, Silk exposes the softer side of Ménage à Trois.

VINEYARD AND WINERYOnce upon a time, men traveled thousands of miles over land and sea for the Orient’s most prized treasure: silk. Its delicate, exotic texture was so desirable, silk literally changed the world. Fortunately, our winemakers didn’t have to travel far in their quest for silk; instead, they found the treasure they sought in marine-influenced vineyards in California’s Central Coast, North Coast and Lodi-Delta appellations: Pinot Noir with seamless cherry flavors, Malbec with velvety softness and Petite Sirah with alluring depth. Dreaming of liquid silk, they assembled their blend, and used unique fermentation methods to craft a delicately textured, ultra-smooth wine with supple tannins. Grapes were cold soaked, then gently pressed to silky perfection. To further illuminate the wine’s unique texture and flavors, the blend was enhanced with a hint of sweet, spicy French and American oak. The result? The smoothest, softest, silkiest wine you’ve ever tasted. You’d travel thousands of miles for just one sip, but lucky for you, you don’t have to.

TASTING NOTESLose yourself in the sensual pleasures of Ménage à Trois Silk—a smooth, seductive red blend that caresses you with every sip. With its bright, red ruby hue in the glass and alluring fragrance of dried violets and berries, Silk beckons, promising an unforgettable experience. Succulent cherry and ripe raspberry flavors mingle with delicate hints of rose petals and toasty spice, and glide gracefully across your palate like liquid silk. Seamless and lustrous, Silk is the lavish, luxurious encounter you’ve been craving.

Menage a Trois Silk 2014

90 ptsMENAGE A TROIS SILK SOFT RED BLEND 2014While the gossamer texture is sensually appealing, and the tannins refined and graceful, the flavor profile of this blend of Pinot Noir, Malbec and Sirah is not the feminine creature one may image. On the nose, heady fragrance of freshly ground espresso beans and a meaty richness occur. Sweet Bing cherries surface in a bath of melted chocolate. The result is an orchestration of good will to the palate.

THREE VINEYARD BLENDEstate fruit harvested from the northern reaches of Dry Creek Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec were hand-picked just a mile from the winery. Here these varietals develop exceptional character on the vineyard sites situated on the valley bench. The vines receive the right amount of sun and cooling fog which develops optimal flavors in the grapes. Careful vineyard management during the growing season defines our style even more.

WINEMAKINGThe grapes were harvested over the first two weeks of October from a textbook perfect vintage bringing in grapes with good acidity, concentrated aromas and flavors. The fruit was crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Periodic pumpovers of the cap during fermentation gives the young wine a substantial increase of flavor, tannin and color.

Our Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 70% American oak barrels for sixteen months in order to develop smoothness and complexity. An additional 30% was aged in new French oak to provide a subtle backbone of vanilla and toasted oak highlights. Blending in Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec adds depth. The integrated flavors between the five varietals show optimum richness and balance.

TASTING NOTESRich aromas of red plum, sage and toasted oak introduce our Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe cherry fruit, black olive and black pepper spice follow on the palate. The wine showcases the fruit with a bit of jammy blackberry and a spicy finish. From a richer vintage showing firm tannins and good acidity. Enjoy upon release or cellar up to eight more years.

William Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2014

87 pts2014 WILLIAM HILL SAUVIGNON BLANC The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc displays flinty, crisp grapefruit notes, is light-bodied, fresh and best drunk over the next year

With roots deeply anchored in the Napa Valley, William Hill Estate crafts luxury Chardonnay and Bordeaux varietal wines from the undiscovered vineyards of California’s most celebrated regions. Beginning with William Hill Estate’s 140-acre benchland vineyard near the Silverado Trail, Winemaker Mark Williams turns to the hidden corners of southern Napa, the North Coast and the Central Coast to create a unique collection of rich, expressive wines.

ABOUT THE WINEOur 2014 William Hill Estate North Coast Sauvignon Blanc offers nuances of ripe citrus fruits, including Meyer lemon, ruby grapefruit and exotic Kaffir lime. These flavors meld with rich notes of guava, melon and a touch of pineapple. A full, round mouthfeel leads the way to a refreshingly crisp finish.

VITICULTURE NOTESThe 2014 vintage saw an abundance of sunshine and warmth on the North Coast of California, creating a perfectly balanced Sauvignon Blanc. We selected a majority of the grapes for this wine from our MacMurray Ranch Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, which contributed to this Sauvignon Blanc’s bright acidity and classic citrus aromas, including grapefruit and lemon zest. We also selected grapes from Solano County, where the warm days and cool nights resulted in ripe tropical characteristics.

WINEMAKER NOTESAfter the grapes were pressed, the juice was racked to preserve the delicate aromas and flavors characteristic of Sauvignon Blanc. In response to a very warm growing season, fermentation was cooler on average this year to preserve the bright aromatics of the grape variety. The cooler temperatures slowed the process, allowing more time on lees and imparting more textual richness and layered fruit complexity. A touch of Semillon was added to the blend for its lively acidity and citrus zest.
