LIMOUSINNEWS & NOTES
Fellow Members and Friends,
2016 got off to great start with the TLA activities during the Fort Worth Stock Show. Thanks to the buyers, bidders and consignors who made the Cowtown Classic Limousin Sale a success. The Lone Star Shoot-Out saw 28 junior exhibitors compete for $10,000 in prize money. The quality of cattle exhibited at both the junior and MOE shows was impressive; breeders and exhibitors are to be commended for their efforts. A good crowd was on hand for TLA’s awards banquet and dinner with benefit auction to follow. Thanks to all who attended and contributed. A complete list of supporters is on page 6. Fort Worth was the beginning of the major show season with San Antonio and Houston following in rapid succession. The winners are featured in this issue, complete results can be found on our website www.texas-limousin.com. Congratulations to all who participated.
We now turn our attention to the summer shows beginning with the Texas Junior Limousin Heifer Show and Field Day in Bryan June 4 and 5. A room-block has been reserved at the Home 2 Suites in College Station and it is recommended that reservations be made soon as rooms in College Station are in short supply. The National Junior Heifer Show and Congress is in Lexington, Kentucky, July 8-14. These shows are a great time of fun, fellowship, and competition and I encourage everyone to make an effort to attend.
The TLA Board of Directors met at the conclusion of the annual membership meeting. One item on the agenda was the junior show program and Lone Star Shoot-Out. A committee was appointed to recommend revisions to the Lone Star Shoot-Out rules and establish a Junior Show Heifer of the Year program. The committee’s recommendations are forthcoming and final decisions will be presented to the membership.
Sincerely, RalphRalph Hawkins
