PROJECT Epik-Shop

ROLETech Team Leader

As an ecommerce startup facing fierce competition in Southeast Asia, Epik-Shop relies on the backing of AirAsia group for their network and influence to sell boutique products from all across the globe.

My role in Epik is to manage the tech team in Jakarta and collaborate with HQ in Malaysia. I am proud to say that my team has built a custom ecommerce platform from scratch, implementing custom logistics and product management features that makes it easy for partners and merchants to join the Epik family.

Epik is constantly evolving as I join the other team members in deciding its growth and direction. Even as new features are deployed, my team is also able tackle bugs and marketing campaigns on daily basis. Providing reports and analytics to shareholders is a crucial part of a startup’s survival.

The growth of Epik also relies on it’s customers, which we care about very much. Their feedback and insights, gathered from live chat transcripts and analytics data help shape the decisions made at Epik. To know more and be a part in the Epik shopping experience, please visit the site at:

AirAsia, the biggest budget airline in Southeast Asia has an interesting way to make money by selling duty free products alongside food and drinks to airline customers. They allow travelers to prebook their items and meals on the website and then receive them during the flight. You can also buy stuff on the spot of course, but it’s all done using a custom EPOS system.

My company made the apps that is used the tablets handled by the cabin crew to serve as a menu list and payment gateway. I was tasked with making the web interface that handled the management of the apps data and systems. The BIG Back dashboard as it’s called, can manage item stocks, carts, flight inventory lists, order reports, and much much more.

All of that is also connected to the main website that is built upon Magento Enterprise framework. A huge project to say the least, and still ongoing today.

PROJECT CekAja.com

ROLEHead of Web Development

CekAja is a financial comparison startup backed by Mountain SEA Ventures. As one of the founding members, I helped to shape the brand starting from the logo and web design.

As the head of web development, I was tasked to collaborate with the tech team in Manila and manage the development team in Jakarta.

One of the biggest challenges with this project was educating the target market with the fairly new concept of financial comparison. That is why CekAja invests heavily in its blogs and forums section.

Also difficult was having to show large comparison tables and present complex calculations in a compact view that is easy to understand. See for yourself at:

PROJECT The Tune Labs

ROLEWeb Developer

The Tune Group’s recent foray into the startup industry is marked by the launch of Tune Labs, and incubator and accelerator program based in Malaysia. As part of their launch process, I was tasked with creating a simple website to provide information about their program.

Taking the Tune brand colors and font, I decided to use Wordpress as the framework for this website. Some quick work with a custom template led to the website that provides information and allows for registration to their next round.

Overall a very simple corporate website that I showcase to highlight how big brands can leverage simple but effective websites. Take a peek at:

PROJECT Traveler Buddy

ROLEFront End Developer

Traveler Buddy is a travel companion app that aims to help business travelers plan and organize their trips. Mostly aimed at mobile users, Traveler Buddy will also provide a web based interface.

I was tasked to help on the front end side of the web based UI. The mockups came from an external agency and I had to translate their design into code. Their attention to detail was incredible and working with them was a great experience.

The final product was handed over but has yet to be launched, along with the iOS and Android apps. Hopefully I will get to see my work in action soon at:

BBM Sticker Contest has been a long running campaign to promote BlackBerry’s popular chat program and it’s sticker feature. The contest invites artists to submit their sticker design to win prizes and a chance to sell their stickers.

I had the website built using Wordpress and various plugins to accomodate for submissions and voting system. The result is a fully functional contest site that is easy to manage and customize thanks to Wordpress’ CMS platform.

After being wildly successful in Indonesia, the contest along with the whole website was cloned to other countries. Apparently BBM is still a big hit in South Africa, Nigeria, and Colombia. So I worked with local agencies in each country to setup their own website and help them handle the contest.

PROJECT Atlas

ROLEWeb Developer

Atlas (formerly known as Xplr) is a startup for travelers to post the places they visited and share interesting stories. Even though the website is filled with social media features, it’s all built with Wordpress!

Thanks to plugins such as BuddyPress and the Javo template, Atlas is home to a thriving community that can interact, share, and follow much like other social media sites.

Admittedly, it took a lot of tweaking to get some of the custom features to work, but as a work in progress, Atlas is in good shape and should be ready to launch very soon! Another great example of how powerful a Wordpress website can be.

PROJECT MediaLoyal

ROLEFront End Developer

Another ambitious startup from the owners of Third Base Ventures. This time they aim to grab the loyalty points market and convert them to things like in app purchases.

A simple landing page was the first task I was given for this. Creating this custom one pager was a quick win and now its on to the bigger task. They also want to make their own marketplace for buying and renting games using loyalty points!

GameOn is the name of the follow up project to MediaLoyal, and I can’t wait to showcase it on my next portfolio.
