Welcome...A very warm welcome to the first edition of CHARITY CHIT CHAT, may I thank all who have supported us over the years, raising much needed funds to support your local hospitals, it really has made a huge difference.

It is impossible to mention everyone who has given or supported but this page highlights a few examples of some of the amazing things that local people, staff, patients and supporters do that make a real difference for local patients.

Our events page highlights some of the things coming up, I can particularly recommend the cross bay walk. Last year over 500 people were escorted by the Queen’s official guide, Cedric Robinson on this sand walk across Morecambe Bay. When asked how he avoids the perils of the sands, Cedric said, “I read these sands like you read a bloomin book!”A breath-taking event, no two walks are ever the same.

To find out more about the events, appeals or just help please get in touch , together we can really makea difference.

Many thanks

CHARITY CHIT CHAT 3

About the AppealAn exciting new Maternity Unit is to open at Furness General Hospital later this year. The Bayb’s appeal aims to raise £250,000 to fund additional equipment, furnishings and birthing aids helping mums give their babies the best possible start in life.

The appeal aims to fund vital equipment to support babies born too soon or too poorly to go home and a family room allowing mums and dads to stay close.

As science constantly evolves and new ideas emerge, Bayb’s appeal also aims to fund a state of the art simulation birthing suite keeping skills at the cutting edge of mother and newborn care, and helpingteams to act ‘instinctively‘ should complications arise.

Dedicated bereavement midwives, Becky and Celia, help families when coming to terms with baby loss, providing support both in hospital and at home. With your help we can fund extra comforts, furnishings and a private gardenarea, giving bereaved parentstime and space to grieveand say goodbye.

Why we need your helpAs you probably know the NHS has only limited funds, we therefore need to raise an additional £250, 000 to buy the latest in equipment, furnishings and birthing-aids making all the difference to local mums to be and giving newborns the best possible start in life.

How you can help...From cake sales and collectionboxes, to balls and bike rides, thesky’s the limit. Why not encourage your school or community groupto organise an event? Fundraising is a great way to get involved andmeet people too.
