A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE MIDLANDS DIXIE YOUTH OZONE ALL-STAR BASEBALL TEAM AND COACHES FOR A REMARKABLE SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2016 DIXIE YOUTH WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Midlands Dixie Youth Ozone All-Star baseball team took top honors at the Dixie Youth World Series held in Laurel, Mississippi, in August of 2016; and

Whereas, to reach the World Series, the Ozone All-Stars had to play a Sub-district Series, a District Series, and the State Tournament, during which they compiled an impressive 12-0 record; and

Whereas, in Mississippi, the Ozone All-Stars defeated teams from Alabama, Texas, Mississippi twice, and Florida, which landed them in the championship rematch with Alabama for the World Series title; and

Whereas, to the cheers of their exuberant fans, the Ozone All-Stars defeated Alabama 6-0 to capture the Dixie Youth World Series trophy on August 11, 2016; and

Whereas, in its bid for the World Series title, the Ozone All-Stars allowed only 63 hits and accumulated 233 runs, hitting an incredible 47 home runs and setting records for home runs and runs scored in the State Tournament; and

Whereas, the members of the championship Ozone All-Star baseball team are Bryce Metts, Carsen Brown, Trey Gallegos,

Blake Palyok, Jake Laird, Tyler Dasher, Bruno Stone, Furman Senterfeit, Turner Thackston, Hunter Livingston, Layne Turner, and Tyler Smaciak; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires skill, strength, and strategy, Coach Kenny Senterfeit and his dedicated assistants, Loren Metts and Chris Stone, maximized their own experience and passion to mold a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the diamond; and

Whereas, the success of the Ozone All-Stars shows the importance of Dixie Youth baseball in the Midlands, which achieved success as a result of the hard work of board members, past and present, whose tireless efforts to share their love of baseball with young people deserve our most sincere praise and recognition; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the Ozone All-Star baseball players have brought to their community, and the members look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Midlands Dixie Youth Ozone All-Star baseball team and coaches for a remarkable season and congratulate them for winning the 2016 Dixie Youth World Series Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Kenny Senterfeit.
