Approaches to Teaching Non-native Chinese Speakers

• Non-Native Program – Students who learned Chinese for 3-4 years can take IGCSE

Mandarin Chinese exam and get B or above – Students who learned Chinese for above 5 years can get

into near-native track and can take IGCSE Second Language Chinese

– The numbers of the students who are at advanced or near native level will increase

– Students not only understand basic Chinese culture, but also understand certain Chinese culture in English. Some books in terms of Chinese history and literature will be provided

– The Students who have taken IGCSE will be able to take IB Chinese B and get advanced mid level of ACTFL.

– Students can do academic writing and formal presentation in Chinese

Cambridge IGCSE First Language Chinese comprises two papers. Paper 1: Reading Paper 2: Writing

Paper 1:Reading (maximum raw mark 50) 2 hours Candidates answer two questions:

Question one —25 marks Candidates answer a series of comprehension questions based on Passage 1.

• 20 marks are available for reading • 5 marks are available for writing: accuracy of language

Eight titles will be set in total. Candidates are required to write between 400 and 600 characters on their chosen title.

Language B (SL & HL ) Language B is an additional language-learning course designed for students with some previous learning of that language. It may be studied at either SL or HL. The main focus of the course is on language acquisition and development of language skills. These language skills should be developed through the study and use of a range of written and spoken material. Such material will extend from everyday oral exchanges to literary texts, and should be related to the culture(s) concerned. The material should be chosen to enable students to develop mastery of language skills and intercultural understanding. It should not be intended solely for the study of specific subject matter or content.

• 高级课程(HL)学生学习3部文学作品,他们均必须选自指定作家名单。

校外评估 (3 小时)(占70%) 一、试卷1:文本分析(90分钟)(占25%) • 试卷中包含2篇/2对学生未曾见过的文本。 • 学生针对其中的1篇/1对文本撰写分析文章。(20分) 二、试卷2: 论文 (90 分钟) )(占25%) • 应答6道题中的某1道题,学生要基于在课程第3部分学习过的

两部文学作品撰写一篇论文。高级课程所出的题是相同的,但所使用的评估标准不同。(25分)

三、书面作业 (占20%) • 基于在课程中所学习的文本,学生至少要完成3项书面作 • 学生要提交一项书面作业接受校外评估。(20分) • 这项作业的篇幅必须为960-1200个汉字,外加一篇240-360个

汉字的写作说明。

IB中文A评估概要(SL/HL)

校内评估(占30%) • 这类评估由教师在校内完成,并由国际文凭组织在课程结束时进行校外评审。

1、个人口头评论(IOC)(15%) • 学生对出自课程第4部分学习过的一部文学作品的节选进行评论。(30分)

• 节选附有2道引导题。 2、延伸口头活动(FOA)(15%) • 学生要完成至少两项延伸口头活动,分别基于课程的第1和第2部分。

• 要提交其中一项口头活动的分数接受最终评审。(30分)
