  • 2017 annual report

  • Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

  • Dear Bright Pink Family,

In 2017, Bright Pink celebrated our first decade of tremendous progress. Since our founding, nearly one million women have been empowered to be proactive advocates for their breast and ovarian health. This early success has laid the foundation for exponential impact in the decades to come.

I proudly joined the organization as CEO in May, and our Founder and CEO Lindsay Avner moved to lead the organization from a new vantage point as Board Chair of our Board of Directors. Charged with strategically scaling the organization’s impact, I dove in to a nation-wide listening and learning tour. In close partnership with Lindsay, the Board of Directors, and our constituents,I set out to understand women’s health needs in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

A critical component of this transition was a pro-bono strategic engagement with The Boston Consulting Group during which a team of staff, donors, ambassadors, board members and industry leaders convened to inform a strategic assessment of Bright Pink’s programs, resources, and opportunities. Together, we crafted a plan designed to move towards helping all women know their breast and ovarian cancer risk and helping them to manage risk proactively. Our plan places an emphasis on programmatic integration, digital innovation, and partnership with leaders in tech and healthcare, purpose-driven corporations and organizations, and most importantly, the women we serve. We have included a snapshot of our 5-year plan in this report. Stay tuned for new programmatic developments as the plan comes to life!

    Katie Thiede, CEO, Bright Pink

The need for personalized prevention continues to grow. To help save more lives from breast and ovarian cancer, we must embrace innovation, collaboration, and purpose like never before. It is an exciting time for women’s health, and your philanthropic support is instrumental in fueling Bright Pink’s impact.

Thank you for welcoming and supporting me in my first year of leadership. I look forward to our continued work together to create a brighter future for all women.

  • Mission: To save women’s lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age.

With a focus on health rather than cancer, we inspire women to make behavior changes that can greatly improve their lives. Through innovative digital tools and constituent-centric marketing, we engage women in educational experiences to help them understand their risk and personalize their prevention plan. We leverage strategic media and brand partnerships to deliver these programs to women where they are, on their terms, and in their language.

    A Bright Approach

    Our Solution

The Task at Hand...1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecologic disease —2/3 of those diagnosed will die as a result.

    2017 Constituent Reflections

After finding out I had BRCA1, Bright Pink

helped me through. Bright Pink gave me a chance to live my life to the fullest. For this I will

always be indebted! Thank you for the support, friendship, motivation and education I would have never learned without this beautifully informational organization. No words would ever

be enough to describe how grateful I am! Thank you again

    Bright Pink!

    - Megan

I would’ve been lost after receiving my

positive BRCA1 results if it hasn’t been for Bright Pink back in 2010!

Most of my doctors had hardly any information on the gene mutations, but you guys had so much! I was able to educate

myself and frequently visited your webpage to help make the best decision on my results for my family. I had my preventative mastectomy at just 25! 31 now and still going strong. My

decision was the best one I’ve ever made and I will always remember you guys! Thanks so much Bright Pink! I see your pamphlets at

my gyno’s office now and I know you are helping to save other lives!

    - Heather

Had I not signed up for Breast

Health Reminders™, had I grown lazy and ignored them each

month, my prognosis could have been

    much different.

    - Erin

The work Bright Pink is doing

is tremendous. I sent the self assessment to

my entire family and they were all blown away. It also

started a great conversation about breast cancer and

    prevention measures.
