“PERSONAL STRENGTHS APPLICATION”(3.5 CEU Hours or .35 CEU Credits*)

Date: October 4, 2017Breakfast & the entire Pre-Conference WorkshopTime: 8:30 am to Noon (Eastern)Cost: $89*

Facilitator: Danny Butler

Highlights:Everyone hears about the importance of planning. Leaders need to have a process in place which allows them to not only plan but take action and then to measure their performance against a benchmark. A big part of one’s success as a leader is found in one’s personal values. This bides the question; do you know what your personal values are? Have you articulated them, in writing, and followed up to see how they impact you? This session will be one of theory and application. First, we will explore your values in a fun way with a deck of cards. These are your values. Not those of anyone else. Just you. Then we will review the process of goal planning, establishing action items and then measure them against a standard. Finally, we will put these together in a format that will allow you to be a more effective leader at home and at work.

About the Facilitator:Danny Butler is a noted speaker, consultant and researcher. He is the Thomas Walter Chair of Technology Management and Marketing and executive director of Global Programs at the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University. Dr. Butler earned his Ph.D. in marketing and international business operations from the University of South Carolina. He holds MBA and finance degrees from the University of Central Florida.

Jerry CaldwellJerry Caldwell’s career at Bristol Motor Speedway epitomizes the quintessential American Dream. Only 20 years ago he started working for the racetrack as an intern while a business student at King University in Bristol, Tennessee. Today, he serves as the executive vice president and general manager of the Speedway and Dragway - a venue that made national headlines last September for its magical transformation from a world-class auto racing facility into a premier NCAA college football stadium and country music arena. He fosters relationships with Fortune 50 companies like Chevrolet and Pepsi Co., and he enhances other long-term local partnerships as the Speedway and Dragway continues to achieve major milestones. In addition to his direct responsibilities, Caldwell plays an integral leadership role with the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) entity that provides funding for children’s-based nonprofits within the 18-counties surrounding the venue. Last year the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities awarded a record-breaking $1,002,380 to nearly 100 rural regional child-advocacy organizations. From intern to full-time employee in the events department, Caldwell joined the sales and marketing department in 1997. The track honored him twice in the following years by naming him the BMS Employee of the Year and then recognized him as the Speedway Motorsports Salesperson of the Year. In 2009, he took on the Vice President of Corporate Sales and only a year later rose to his current position.A native of Lexington, N.C., Caldwell and his wife, Belton, are active members of numerous civic and religious organizations. They are the proud parents of four adopted children ages 5 – 12 and reside in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Eric McElvennyEric is an endurance athlete living in San Diego, California. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from the United States Naval Academy while preparing for his service as a Marine Corps Infantry Officer. Eric deployed three times as a Marine and on his final tour, an incredible experience in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, was wounded after stepping on an IED. Eric suffered the amputation of his right leg below the knee, a life-changing opportunity that began his next journey. Faced with a physical challenge and an uncertain future, Eric made a promise to himself to run an Ironman

Triathlon. On his journey from the hospital bed in southern California to the finish line in Kona Hawaii, he realized that the challenge and adversity he was up against and the techniques he used to reach the finish line could be used against the challenges we all entertain. When not training, racing and delivering inspiration, Eric can be found with his wife, Rachel, and three children.
