A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:Oh Canada, if I may borrow some words and sentiment from Robert Munsch: “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I am living, my Canada you’ll be.” These words merely scratch the surface in describing the immense pride we have as we invite you to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday at this year’s Children’s Arts Festival.Join us for the biggest little birthday party in town! Dance up a storm in the Sonic Garden, run away and join the Circus at the Imagination Playground, get ready to celebrate all things Canadian as you enter Once Upon a Time and let your Canadian comedic talent break free in Art Alley.None of these celebratory experiences would be possible without the hundreds of champions we are so fortunate to have supporting us. Their newest show, designed especially for this year’s festival, called Glowing Hearts, is a heartfelt circus exploration of the true north and a showcase of young circus artists celebrating Canada.

On behalf of City Council and the residents of Richmond, I would like to extend sincerest greetings, and welcome you all to the 9th Annual Children’s Arts Festival.

This very popular festival is taking place on Family Day, and is a day of celebration with creativity classes of dance, storytelling and other engaging hands-on activities in which families can participate together in the enjoyment of the arts. Professional artists and educators lead the festival as it continues to challenge the imagination and creativity of children and youth.

Thank you to the organizers, community partners and volunteers for their hard work in creating a festival that develops our children, and the integration of the Arts into the overall health and vibrancy of Richmond.
