2017 CHARACTER EDUSAVE AWARD (ECHA)

MOE has introduced a new Edusave Character Award (ECHA) to

enable schools to recognise students who demonstrate

exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through

their behaviour and actions. The award also supports our school’s

continuing efforts in nurturing students of good values and character,

who are active contributors and concerned citizens.

OBJECTIVES:

(a) To signal the emphasis MOE places on character and values,

on par with academic achievements.

(b) To recognise outstanding students who are exemplary in

character, and who can be a role model to inspire others.

CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION

1) The nominee must be a Singaporean.

2) The nominee must, on a consistent basis, demonstrate the

following:

a) school values and Conduct Grade must be Very Good

or Excellent

b) Level of civic responsibility - students initiating actions

to address community issues to improve the lives of

others

c) Resilience - students who have persevered

despite difficult circumstances (e.g. financial problems,

family problems, health issues etc.), and have achieved

commendable results in academic and/or non-academic

domains.

SELECTION PROCESS:

a) NOMINATION STAGE:

By fellow students, teachers or any other stakeholders who interact with the students.

b) SHORTLISTING STAGE:

• Panel includes:

• Year Heads / LMs / Form and Co-Form Teachers/ level teachers/ CCA teachers

• HOD- Character and Citizenship and HOD Pupil Management

c) ENDORSEMENT STAGE:

Panel includes:

Vice-Principals

FORM OF AWARD:

Similar to the practice for other Edusave Awards, the ECHA awardees will receive a certificate and an award voucher. The ECHA award quanta are as follows, depending on the level of study:
