LatecomersarealsorequiredtoregisterwiththeassignedOURstaff.Thosewhodonotsigntheattendancesheetshallnotbecalled.

Recognition Deanswillpresentsummacumlaudesandgraduatesbycollege.DeanswillcallsummacumlaudesinalphabeticalordertoreceivetheirmedalsfromthePresident.Theythenproceedtotheirseatsbutwillremainstandinguntilthelastsummacumlaudeiscalled. TheChancellorpresentsthegraduatestothePresidentandtheof icialconfermentofdegreesfollows.Therecognitionisfollowedbytheresponsefromthegraduates.

Selectionofhonorgraduatetodeliverresponsefromgraduates Allprobablesummacumlaudecandidatesareeligibleto participateintheselection.Theshortlistisnottobebasedonrank. Theinvitationalcommencementselectioninvolvesbothspeechwritinganddeliverycompetition.Candidatesaretopreparea ive-minutecommencementspeechineitherEnglishorFilipino,orboth,onathemetobeassigned.Thiswillbedeliveredbeforeaselectionpanel.

Thespeechideallyexploresthethemebycombininguniversalideasandpersonalexperience.AnyforeignorPhilippinelanguage(otherthanFilipino)includedinthespeechmustbetranslatedintoEnglishorFilipinointhebodyofthetext.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLLEGE MARSHALS

Duties CollegeMarshalsassisttheUniversityMarshalinensuringthatthecommencementprogramstartspromptlyandproceedssmoothly. Theycheckattendanceandorganizequeuesforgraduatingstudents,givingthemallnecessaryinstructionsanddirections. Theyseetoitthatstudentsappropriatelybehaveinkeepingwiththeoccasion.Collegemarshalsseetoitgraduatesstaythroughoutthelengthofthegraduationprogram.

Assembly Callforassemblyat6AMattheUniversityAmphitheater. GraduatesaretoqueueundertheguidanceoftheCollegeMarshalswhointurnensurethoselinedup/seatedarebona idegraduatesoftheirCollege. ThosejoiningtheprocessionaresummacumlaudesandPhD/

Doctoralgraduates.Othergraduatesshouldbeseatedbetween6:15and6:30AM.(PleaseseeSeatPlanonpage18)

SummacumlaudesandPhD/Doctoralgraduatesaretobedirectedtotheirseats.

CollegeMarshalsaretocirculateandsubmitattendancedistributedbytheOURtobesignedbytheCollegegraduates,demonstratetothegraduationcandidatesshiftingthesablayfromrighttoleftshoulderwithouttakingitoff,andbriefgraduatesonproperbehaviorduringtheprogram.

Processional SecureattendancesheetstobecollectedbyOURstaffatAmphitheater.Signalyourgraduatestobeseatedby6:45AMwhenthebandstartstoplayatthestartoftheprocessionalandwhenUniversityMarshalenters.

SummacumlaudegraduatesdescendthestageaftertheprocessionalandproceedtotheirseatattheleftmostsideoftheAmphitheater.

Programguidelines Graduatesareinstructedtorisewhentheprocessionalstarts. TheMarshalsensuregraduatesremainstandinguntilof icialsandVIPshavetakentheirplacesonstage,colorshaveentered,andtheNationalAnthemsung. TheCollegeMarshalssignalgraduatestostandinunisonwhenpresentedbytheirCollegeDeansandDirector.Magnacumlaudes,cumlaudes,BA/BS,MA/MSstandbydegreeprograms.MarshalssignalgraduatestositatthesametimeaftertheyarepresentedbytheirDeanorDirector. FirstaidconcernsaremonitoredandreportedbytheCollegeMarshalstotheUniversityHealthServicestaff.TheyalsoalerttheUPDilimanPolice(UPDP)andtheSecurityServiceBrigade(SSB)personnelforsecurityandsafetyconcerns.UPHShasanambulanceoncallwhiletheUPDPandSSBarestationedintheareatoimmediatelyrespondtotheseneeds.
