About...Membership

Each municipality in Palm BeachCounty may be a member of the Palm

Beach County League of Cities. Duesare established by the Board of

Directors, based on population & advalorem valuation formulas.

Associate MembershipIndividuals, nonprofit organizations, Special Districts andbusiness entities which support or serve municipalities areeligible. Associate Members, sponsored by a municipal member,submit application and payment to the League office with finalapproval going to the Board of Directors. The League welcomesparticipation in its committees, activities and general membershipmeetings by Associates, however they are nonvoting members.

Ex Officio MembersEx-Officio Memberships are composed of governmental agencies,upon the nomination of such agency by any municipal member,and approval by the Board of Directors.

Our MeetingsOur Board of Directors and General Membership luncheonsmeet the 4th Wednesdays of the month except May andDecember. Meetings are at various host locations around thecounty. Directors may propose items of business by notifyingthe Executive Director who shall place such items on theagenda.

Our Board of Directors18 city officials serve on our Board: 4 executive officers, onerepresentative from each of the 5 League districts, sixrepresentatives from the largest municipalities (population over25,000), two at-large seats and the immediate past president.Any past president(s) still holding elected office may serve ex-officio (nonvoting).

The OfficersDuring the March/April Membership meetings, elections are heldto select officials to be installed for the offices of President, 1stVice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and theBoard.

The Executive DirectorThe Board appoints an Executive Director, who serves at thepleasure of the Board. The Executive Director is responsible

for the daily operation of the business of the League. TheExecutive Director serves as chief liaison to the CountyCommission, School Board, department staff, the Legislature& Congressional Delegation on behalf of the Palm BeachCounty League of Cities.

Our Committees & IssuesThe League has numerous committees: Legislative, Finance,Scholarship, Transportation, Environmental, Policy, Education& Programs, which operate ongoing. The League is alsorepresented on state, regional & county committees and boards.Special project committees (Ad hoc) are established from time totime to study and propose solutions to pressing issues.

Want to be an Associate?As an Individual, nonprofit organization, Special District or businessentity that supports municipalities in Palm Beach County, considerbeing a member of “The League.” We are recognized as one ofthe premiere local/regional leagues in the state. Forms andinformation are available at our website. All potential membersmust be sponsored by a municipal member and approved by theBoard of Directors.
