Putting Safety First is our top priority. The Ontar-io Waste Management Association wants to work with you to improve safety. Every year preventa-ble accidents needlessly happen when pedestri-ans, cyclists, and other vehicles come in close contact to our vehicles. Let’s work together and stay safe. Help us prevent accidents by keeping a safe distance and maintaining eye contact with our drivers before approaching our vehi-cles. Together we can make a difference.

Thank you to the City of London Material Recycling Facility managed by Miller Waste Systems for their generosity in providing the facility to hold the 2017 Truck Driving Championship and Miller Waste Systems who supplied their equipment for the competition. These events are not possible without the very generous support from all our members—the drivers, the equipment, the judging, the sponsorship, the trucks, and especially the spectators.

We would like to thank our judges who as always, are instrumental in making the day run smoothly – for our many supporters who come out year after year to “cheer” on their favourites – thank you again for your continued support. The OWMA would also like to thank all of our members who generously donated to the event—the Driver’s Gift; thank you Purves Redmond. Driver’s Shirt; thank you Waste Connection of Canada. Friday night round-up at the Boston Pizza—thank you to Mack Truck for sponsoring the event—it was a great success which the drivers thoroughly enjoyed! The OWMA would very much like to recognize the efforts of the Committee members and their companies who work very hard all year long to ensure a smooth operation, an appropriate location and a fair competition. We would like to extend special thanks to Milt Hiles, Ludwig and Deb Biliko, Waste Connections of Canada, Anthony Dillard, Cyndie Wells, Miller Waste Systems, John Whitworth, City of London, Robert Laurenza and his staff, Universal Staffing and the many other volunteers who provided their time and support. Also to all other category drivers and winners – congratulations on a job well done – the category winners received their plaques and ‘prizes’ along with the respect and admiration of their companies, competitors and the over 200 people who attended the event.
