Download the Husker Hire Link app by searching for ‘Careers by Symplicity’ in the app store. Make sure to RSVP for the event to select your top employers and allow them to see your résumé before the event.

Follow us on social media. Visit our calendar of events at careers.unl.edu/fairs.

Visit the Career Fair in Husker Hire Link to view a list of employers attending the 2017 Spring Career Fairs and identify those who interest you most. en spend time researching those employers’ purpose, structure, strengths, and challenges. If they have positions available in your area of interest evaluate your skills, abilities, and weaknesses for the position.

A well-developed resume is important to make your Career Fair experience a success. Create a resume that reects your accomplishments, skills, and experiences and print an adequate supply to bring to the fair. If you are considering positions in a few areas, you may need more than one version of your resume.

Log-in to Husker Hire Link, careers.unl.edu/hhl, to post your resume so employers attending the fairs may view your resume in advance and/or arrange an on-campus interview with you.

Make a great rst impression by practicing your elevator pitch (or introduction) to use when you approach an employer. is personal introduction should include your name, major, and interests.

Attend the 5-Minute Resume Critiques and the Prep Week events, as both oer an opportunity to have your resume reviewed by Career Services professionals. See page 2 for details. If you are unable to attend, visit Career Services in 225 NE Union for a walk-in appointment, weekdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

And don’t forget about the handshake. Practice a rm handshake while making strong eye contact (have your friends or family play the role of a prospective employer!).

Hint: Watch for Career Fair activities and contests taking place around campus for your chance to win prizes like a Career Fair t-shirt, lint rollers, and more!

Be courteous to everyone you encounter, turn o your phone and do not use it while meeting employers at the fair, and stay positive, showing enthusiasm for the employer and their available positions.

Aer the fair, send a follow-up email to employers who have positions available in your area of interest. Be sure to thank them for talking with you at the Career Fair and express your interest in the organization and position(s). Your note reminds the employer of your interest and qualications while demonstarting that you are respectful and appreciative. And since employers leave a Career Fair with many resumes, this is a great way to stand out!

Wearing professional attire to the Career Fair will help make a great rst impression on the employers you visit with. Dress in professional attire if you are exploring job opportunities. Otherwise, business casual is ne. is could be dress pants or a skirt (knee-length or longer with hose), a blouse, simple jewelry and make-up, closed-toe shoes, and a professional bag or small purse. is could also be a long-sleeved collared shirt, a conservative tie, polished shoes, a belt the same color as your shoes, and a professional portfolio or case.

Career Fair Month oers 10 mini events to help prepare you for the Career Fair. ese are available to all students, regardless of your major or area of interest. Take advantage of this opportunity to meet with Career Service professionals to have your resume reviewed, to practice your handshake and elevator pitch (introduction), to get tips on identifying employer booths to visit at the fair, and more! See page 2 for a comprehensive list of events.

Enjoy free parking and transportation to the Career Fairs at Pinnacle Bank Arena! Free parking will be available in the Pinnacle Bank Arena parking garage. Free shuttles will be available beginning at 12:30 p.m. in front of the NE Union (south side).

• Check-in and get a career fair map. • Keep your resumes neat and clean in a simple portfolio. • Store your coat and backpack before entering the fair.• Locate organizations you wish to visit.• Approach employers with a rm handshake, eye contact, and plenty of enthusiasm and interest. • Distribute your resume and get a business card from a representative at each organization that interests you.

• Ask the representative for any tips for applying online if that is the required application process. Some employers cannot accept hard copy resumes and will direct you to their online application. is does not mean the employer is not interested or does not have opportunities available. • Have an open mind to employers you may not have identied ahead of time. • Remember to check out and grab a t-shirt while supplies last. • If you have any questions, stop by the Career Services booth located in the hallway immediately before the fair oor entrance.
