Ownership of the company passes to the Gardini and Ferruzzi families. VENINI begins collaborating with contemporary artists and architects with renewed vigour.

History

VENINI: a story, an artistic excellence, a typically Italian passion

Established in 1921 by Paolo Venini, a Milanese lawyer, and Giacomo Cappellin, a Venetian antiques dealer,VENINI S.p.A., then known as Cappellin, Venini & C., would soon become a benchmark in the world of artisticglass, laying the foundations of the stylistic identity that still distinguishes the company today.

Over the years, VENINI has undertaken significant joint projects with artists such as Napoleone Martinuzzi, CarloScarpa, Vittorio Zecchin, and, after the war, with Gio Ponti and Mimmo Rotella. Contemporary designers andarchitects who collaborate with the company include names like Tadao Ando, Gae Aulenti, Massimiliano Fuksas,Ettore Sottsass, Emmanuel Babled, Alessandro Mendini,Ron Arad and Peter Marino.The forms and styles of VENINI’s original artistic creativity are therefore continuously refreshed.

With its iconic projects and new creations, VENINI presents its works in two collections: Art Glass brings togethera series of extraordinary sculptural vases and objects for interior decoration; Art Light features chandeliers andmajor lighting installations for large public or private spaces. Creations bearing the VENINI signature havebecome part of the permanent collections of museums of such calibre as the Metropolitan Museum and MoMAin New York, the Fondation Cartier in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

VENINI’s own museum contains 45,000 drawings, 10,000 vintage photos and 4,000 works of art, making it themost precious historical archive of modern and contemporary glass art in the world.

Since 2016, the company has been controlled by the Damiani family, owners of the international fine jewellerybrand, who are determined to give greater impetus to one of the most authentic names in Italian-madeexcellence.
