On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I wouldlike to welcome each of you to this magnificentevent in honor of our friend and colleague FazleHussain. He is an individual that expects anddemands nothing less than excellence in everyaspect of his life, a quality that stands out abouthim. His passion for coherent structures and fluiddynamics is clear to everyone around him and is reflected in hislandmark contributions in various fields.

During this three-day event, we will enjoy scientific presentations, aswell as posters, in areas related to fluid dynamics, energy and medicine.Furthermore, we will share the life and contributions of the scientist, the rebel, the mentor, the friend and the yoga instructor.

Fazle’s legacy will be articulated in a talk given by Professor Ron Adrianand also during various occasions, including evening events wherecolleagues and long time friends such as Professors Stephen Davis,Katepalli Sreenivasan, Parviz Moin, John Kim, Lex Smits, Bill Saric, BillGeorge, Mohamed Gad-el-Hak, Mark Glauser, Jim Wallace, Ron Panton,Hui Meng, and others will share his stories and great achievements. Inaddition, the mystical aspect of the “Faz”, as he is known in the YogaCommunity, will be shared with us by his yoga students and colleagues.Last but not least, we will also enjoy humorous stories by his lovelywife, Mrs. Rehana Hussain, on Saturday evening.

We hope you enjoy the celebration and this beautiful island. Please donot forget to share pictures of these moments, as we plan to uploadthem on the event website.

Sincerely,

This event honors the 70th

birthday of Professor Fazle

Hussain, a world-class fluid

dynamicist, who has

contributed in areas related to

fluid dynamics in Medicine,

Turbulence and Energy. The

event takes place at the Ritz

Carlton Hotel on the picturesque beach of Puerto

Rico. The symposium will include short scientific

talks, poster presentations, a reception on Friday

November 1 and a banquet on Saturday

November 2. We hope to see you and look

forward to a great symposium.
