Enter your reflective comments The School is certainly at the Evolving stage in all areas. As mention in other areas the school has put into place strong
foundations and now needs to ensure that processes and initiatives are built upon to achieve the desired outcomes. The
School has a well established PLT structure with all staff actively involved. We have well established buy in from all staff in
the key initiatives that have been introduced and established in the life time of the current Strategic Plan. Staff are eager to
develop their skills but have indicated in the Staff survey that Feedback is an element that needs further development.
Though students are engaged with the school, feel safe and secure and value what the school has to offer, attendance is an
issue and it stems around the location and family trauma/circumstances.
We need to develop further student voice and share these reflections across the whole school community to enable us to
make progress moving forward.
Considerations for 2019 As the school will be undergoing a Review in 2018 , no new initiatives were embarked upon in this current AIP for 2018
rather as a Leadership tem we decided to further embed and develop practices that have been implemented in the previous
AIP's developed by the school. We believe we have put into place a strong foundation to meet our desired aims, with
appropriate resources but need to ensure that all staff have a common understanding of our expectations for our key
Cardinia Primary School (3689) - 2018 - Overall Implementation Plan.docx Page 4
initiatives. Student growth in the Grade 3 to 5 cohorts did not show the desired level of movement, though our over all
NAPLAN data remains relatively strong when compared to State and Like Schools. Relative growth in Spelling was in line
with Departmental expectations but in the areas of Numeracy we didn't have the desired outcome in High Growth and too
many in the Medium growth category. Both in Reading and Writing we didn't get the expected level of high growth which
obligates us to be more reflective on the needs of students and what we need to develop in them to progress forward.

Improvement Initiatives Rationale
Despite putting into place a number of key initiatives the performance of students achieving high growth and the percentage of students in the top two bands in Writng
and Spelling was not evident in the 2017 NAPLAN Data. The school believes that the processes and initiatives are sound but needs strengthening through improving
teacher practice and accountability. It is believed that the current goals expressed for 2018 will assist with rectifying this situation
Goal 1 Improving student outcomes and achievement by maximising the learning growth of every student in all domains with an
emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy.
12 month target 1.1 Writing and Spelling NAPLAN in Years 3 and 5 - growth in top two bands to increase by 5%.
